Baby pattern baldness

I had a decent head of hair when I was born,

but a few months later I had lost most (but not all) of my hair, leaving me with a NW7 horseshoe, similar to my father.

Did this happen to anyone else here? Is there some kind of connection with this temporary baldness pattern and the pattern that one ends up with? Any other thoughts about this phenomenon?

I've often wondered why some babies are born with full heads of hair then lose it a few weeks later then it regrows etc. Baby hair looks like norwood most of the time yet it continues to get thicker. There must be a way of triggering this new growth. Stem cells maybe? :dunno:

My nephew, who was born almost a year ago, had thick dark hair and then it all shed. It is now light and wispy and is gradually getting thicker and thicker. He is almost 1 so I will update you on his hair in 20-30 years time.

Often they lie on their backs all day and and the fragile baby hair gets kind of worn away. Thats what happenned to my neice but after 6months it matured and grew back thicker.
I'm sure some of the fathers on here can confirm this (if there is any)?

This happened to my niece and I told my sister that for a while her baby looked like Danny Devito. She wasn't amused.
