Subject: risk of taking avodart

Question
i have taken propecia for about 8 months now. at the start, the results were amazing, i started growing new hairs and all of my hair was thickening in general. also, i was barely seeing any hairs on my pillow, bathroom sink, etc. Now, I am losing a good amount of hair and I am starting to see bald spots on the side of my head. Should I turn to Avodart now? what are the short term/long term risk for taking avodart?

Answer
Hi Young Guy,

Medications do not always work the same on everyone. Avodart is prescribed for prostate problems, not hair loss, and although levels of DHT are affected in the blood, it's the level of DHT in the hair follicle that matters. Avodart has not been clinically proven to affect the levels in the hair follicles and could cause sexual, gastrointestinal and muscular problems.

I wouldn't advise it.

Thank you for your question.

Take care and God Bless,
Kimberly Belk

lol, she has to advise not to take Avodart since it is not officially perscribted for hair loss. Any yes, it "could" many things, you might read the side effects of Aspirin, lol
