Yeah cortisol is bad, bad stuff if it is chronically elevated. I am taking holy basil, ashwagandha, magnesium and a multivit in an attempt to curb my cortisol levels (I have been like, stressed/tense since the first time I was at uni ._.).

Cortisol does many, many negative things to the body because it is designed for periods of long-term stress to do things like break down muscle to provide emergency energy. It also shortens telomeres and all sorts of really, really bad things.

It's up there with insulin as a hormone to keep very much in check.
