Are finasteride permanent side effects possible after short usage?

Hey there I had some questions about the side effects of finasteride before I get a prescription.

QUESTION: If one was to feel the side effects of finasteride right away or early on say within the first 1-2 months and they chose to stop quickly, is it possible for permanent sides? Or are permanent sides more seen in long-term users?

Just want to know whether a quick decision early on in treatment whether to quit would be better or not. I'm saying this because I've read about people who have sides for a bit, then they go away, or vice versa.

Because that sort of topic is just silly. I mean if you've looked at Finasteride you would know that the side effects aren't permanent they stick around for 2-4 weeks after discontinuation. There's a specific group that seems to believe that the side effects are permanent but they're the same type of people who will spout things like Finasteride made my hair worse etc..

Isn't it even now labelled on the drug that side effects may persist? I definitely know there is an exaggeration of side effects and a mental aspect to it, but overall isn't there even a advocacy group for PFS? It's definitely not a made-up thing.

I get that no one may really have an answer, maybe I should ask this:

I've seen some posts about people that have temporary sides that go away over time; would it be a good idea for someone to continue with enduring side effects to see if they'll just get over them?

There's no way to know beforehand how your body is going to react. In basic terms, these are the scenarios you're looking at, in order of likelihood:

1) experience little or no sides (very likely)
2) experience sides for anywhere between weeks and months before your body adjusts
3) experience sides that continue and only disappear when you discontinue the drug
4) experience sides that last long after discontinuing the drug (extremely unlikely)

The only way to know is by trying it and seeing how your body reacts. Going in with a smaller dose is probably sensible if you're worried about sides and then upping the dosage as you go.

Thanks man, thats a good answer.

I was wondering if there has been a good strategy as to what strength to start off at and how much to increase by every so often?
