Application of Minoxidil

Is it easy to spread 1ml of minoxidil on your entire scalp? Would you be better off shaving your head and applying it? Also lets say you apply all of the 1ml of solution to your temples/hairline, would it still make your crown area thicken? I have also noticed that 'Kirkland' sell minoxidil for much cheaper than Regain/Rogain, is it just as effective? I cannot go down the Finasteride route and any advice on the above would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.

lmdavies,

If you are planning on using minoxidil on the whole top of your head, you will probably need more than 1ml per application. I personally don't do taht myself but have known of many posters on this forum who do. Many use about 2ml per application for the entire scalp. It could help make applying it easier if you shave your head. You don't NEED to shave it though.

It has been shown that minoxidil has mostly a local effect, but it also does a little in regrowth to other areas due to the systematic absorbtion of the minoxidil. If you really want to regrow hair in certain areas, apply the minoxidil directly to those areas.

Any generic minoxidil is just as effective as name brand Rogain. The ingredients are exactly the same. Its nice to save money so go with the Kirkland. Good luck.

I use it all over my scalp and I do it damp most of the time because I feel that that increases my coverage area. I put 1.5-2 ml and massage it around. It gets all over my hair but I cant avoid that.

i am pretty new to this stuff, but i have been using the eyedropper and sliding the end along my scalp between the hairs and then just putting one drop in about ten or fifteen different places around the scalp. i am hoping that each "local" area of the drops will be enough to give an overall coverage, and this keeps it mostly out of my hair...and it only takes a minute or two to do.
