Just something that has been on my mind lately on how likely I am to go bald completely or what my odds are to survive it. The path I will most likely take? Anyways of knowing or test you can take? How much does your family history play a roll? I’ll talk about my experience. I’m 22 years old. My right side temple was receded at 18 and hasn’t gotten really any worse in 4 years but have been super self concious about it. I’ve taken pictures over the years to keep track. Family history is this. Twin brother (not alike) very very slight recess on right side, has thicker hair than me. Mom has full head of hair, 3 uncles on my moms side have full heads of hair. My moms father has a full head of hair. My dads brother has a full head, my dad had temple recession early in his life. I saw pictures at their wedding when he was 21 and his recession was worse then mine. Looked at pictures when he was 32 and had barley receded more. At 40 he had receded a little more and got 2200 grafts transplanted to the front to touch up his hair line. Now 52 his hair has thinned out just a little bit and crown now just barley starting if you over analyze it like me. But overall still looks good. What do you think my outlook Is? Same as my dad? Maybe in between my dad in my uncles? Likely hood of being worse then all of them? I’m
Not scared of being bald I’m scared of going bald of that makes sense. Tall, blue eyes and not bad looking so my life wouldn’t end if I was bald but just bums me out and something I’ve been thinking about. I went to a derm and he said I had slight temple recession but would not prescribe propecia. Said he’s had bad experiences with it and would not recomend it. Nor do I want to take it. I believe something safer will come out in the next 10 years for hair maintenance but not likely a “cure”
