Anyone got results on dutasteride but not finasteride?

I have been on finasteride 1.25mg for 8 months now and haven't seen much results. My hair has seemed to thin out all over and I have suffered a bit of temple recession too.

Because I am not maintaining, I am considering dutasteride.

RESULTS:

Of the 31 patients who completed the treatment, 24 patients (77.4%) were improved by the global photography (17 were slightly, six moderately, and one markedly improved) compared with the post-finasteride treatment. There was no significant change in seven patients (22.6%), and aggravation was not reported. Hair density and thickness significantly increased by 10.3% (87 ± 12-96 ± 12/cm(2)) and 18.9% (0.053 ± 0.012-0.063 ± 0.011 mm), respectively, in phototrichogram assessment. Side effects included transient sexual dysfunction in six patients (17.1%).
CONCLUSIONS:

Dutasteride is suggestive to be an alternative treatment option to patients with Androgenetic Alopecia who do not clinically respond to finasteride in six months.

I'm not using it myself, but studies show it can be effective while Androgenetic Alopecia is recalcitrant to finasteride.

This makes me hopeful. Also, what counts as a not clinically responding to finasteride? I have lost hair but I think I would have lost more without it; would this count as clinically not responding?

finasteride basically destroyed my hair and scalp, over almost a year. At six months, I remember having itching, crawling feelings and burning feelings and RAPID hair loss. I am on dutasteride now, but it's only been a couple months AND I started RU 5 weeks ago and 15% compounded minoxidil...so I can't conclusively report anything. The scalp inflammation is definitely better. It's confusing, because there is such a wide spectrum of reports from people on finasteride. Either they get drastic improvement, maintenance, the same gradual hair loss, or respond horrible to it and lose an inordinate amount of hair.

clinically responding is noticing the treatment take effect, in this case, positive clinnical responding would be hair loss slowed down, hair loss halted, hair loss halted and regrown. negative would be hair loss has sped up which has only been reported in a few people and anecdotally (although i am certain it is possible). not clinically responding would be noticing no change to the rate of hair loss at all during treatment.
