I am not sure about the side effects, but you will lose the hairs that were already "dieing" (read the site FAQs, etc). But, my understanding is these dieing follicles will be *reborn* with strength anew :)

You should really pick a dosage and stick with it for at least 1-3 months. Also, I think this every other day dosing (both versions you pick) has no *real* scientific studies to support this usage. If you are trying to regulate hormones, keep it consistent and on a daily basis before jumping around.

Additionally I think using the 0.02mg is too low a dosage -- if you read the study that shows some efficacy at 0.02mg, your chance is greater at a slightly higher dosage (if you do a logistical regression analysis anyway). Also, if memory serves, they gave this dosage DAILY. When a *real* science study (not, my doctor/friend/coworker says every other day is effective) comes out, I will switch my belief -- until then, use primary resources for your usage. But that is just IMHO from reading a couple of dosage studies and why I went with 0.625mg/day (I really wanted to do 0.5mg but had bought proscar already and spliting it 10ways is too much a pain).

yes, this could have a negative effect. for propecia to be completely effective, it needs to be taken everyday at 1mg. anything less than this and you are compromising at least some of the effectiveness of the drug, however minute. i did have a similar thing happen to me. there was a period i went through where i was just not shedding hairs at all, but my hair seemed to be getting thinner. not sure of the significance of this, but yes, it does happen. just gotta stick with it, nothing much more you can do. i would at least go .5mg a day if i were you

Jason, piece of advice. No on knows what will happen with you and your own gene & situation. I went through this period too, asking people, looking for other experiences. When push comes to shove, everyone is different period. :)

Move to taking a consistent dosage every day, higher then 0.02mg. Wait and see. Unfortunately, that's all we new starters can do :(
