Any Proscarsmiths out there!!! (How dafuq do you cut the pills????)

Tried cutting my proscar last night and the tablet just crumbled! The shape of them is ridiculously hard to cut into fourths.

Someone please help! :crazy: Any specific pill cutter that I should get?

Just wanna update this, yesterday I paid and got two boxes of Proscar, the reason, they only had 2 in stock and were expecting more today, which I collected. Anyway, long story short, I got a recommended pill cutter off the pharmacist, WHO, happened to be a dude and not the pretty young thing that was on yesterday, and the looks he gave me were shocking, once he read my script, he looked over at me, and said in a dumbfounded way "are ..... are these for you?" I replied "yes", he proceeded to bag them for me and kept looking at my hair, he then asked "are sure you need them!?" right then I started to feel really embarrassed and told him "yeah, I'm using it the past year" he then replied "well, they must be working so".

You who'd have taught he would have been a bit more discreet considering other people were in there and it was quiet a small chemist.

The fella was about 45-49 (range) thinning at the front and a bald spot on the back. Taught I'd throw that bit of trivial info in there.

LOL that guy probably wished he had got on finasteride years ago. People need to understand that finasteride is a prevention not a cure. No point taking it if you're already bald.

It's near impossible to cut 5mg pills accuratley - it doesn't matter if you get slightly more dose one day and slightly less the next. It evens out. Takes several days for DHT levles to return to normal after one dose

it seems any old pil cutter would do. using a knife is not ideal. pill cutters usually have two walls on the side which apply a pressure to hold the pil in place as you cut it. this should prevent it from shattering or crumbling.

it really doesnt matter if you get exacly one quarter the pill. the dose response is pretty flat in the region of doses from 0.2 mg to 5 mg. you could just eye ball it and eat the shattered remanents of the pill, just eat the whole pill in 4 days and it would be fine.

Just a standard pill cutter from pharmacy. I cut it down the middle so that each side has enough of the S for a perfect half. Then I further cut the remains a bit offsetting the middle so that the thinner side gets a bit more length.

You don't have to be super precise, you will always get at least 1mg if you cut it that way.

How well do theese pillcutters cut, exactly? Do they tend to crush the pills, or are there clean or semiclean cuts? Ive seen pictures on ebay and they dont look so reliable. Is it just as good to get a blade from a oldskool 1 blade shaver and cut it with that? It is thin and supersharp.

If you get a good quality one it has a sharp razor and it slices them very precisely.

No the only additional benefit of more than 1mg would only occur in very specific groups. A.) Those who metabolize the drug too much B.) Those who get low bioavailability c.) Those that want lower DHT levels directly in the prostate tissue.

I have that same one. Put the thinner end of the pill down into the triangular borders and it will fit nice and snug, you may need to adjust a bit. Once you have the 2 halves though I typically don't even use the borders but use my eyes to see the distance on each side of the pill from the center line.
