Then got back on after 6+ months with repeat success?

Hoping to find someone who has gone down this road so to gain some insight. Rather than then just speculation that one should respond if you did in the past etc...

I went through the initial dred shed and pretty much had high shedding over the years of use- about eight years( different formulas, 12.5% etc)

Stopped thinking it was no longer helping(familiar?) to find myself much thinner 6months down the line (shed about three months after stopping and still am 6-7months).

So fearful to start again because of another round of intense shedding that i am unsure my hair can handle. and worse case that my cells are in some way immune to the mechanism now.

Best case is that somehow i am able to re-experience gains as a new user might again.

Anyone similar? That didn't just jump back on after getting off....

thanks for feedback..

I've only been on it for 10 months and am strongly contemplating quitting it because Dr. Feller said it could be messing my hair up; you said that you were on it and then stopped because you thought that it had "stopped working". Did you experience any regrowth while you were on it? Or by stoped working did you mean that you didn't think it was still maintaining your hair?

TS, i fit this category somewhat

i was on it casually for about 2+ years. went off it in May and come end of August i had the worst shed of my life. For the first time ever i looked noticably "bald" (severe thinning on crown etc). Pretty hard to deal with.

I went back on it after those three months and theres no doubt its steadied the ship. I use a bit of toppik to help me through this process but id definately say my hairs recovering (should take another few months to see the full extent of recovery though!)

i read that i would have regrew some of that hair anyway, but seeing the shed showed me that minoxidil is a good maintainer i suppose...

When someone is about to quit minoxidil, I always say that the best way is to do it slowly, meaning slowly decrease amount of minoxidil. ( once a day for a few weeks, then decrease ml. etc) It should take around 2 months, If used minoxidil for a long time and then all the sudden stop using it no wonder that it follows a huge shed.
Anyway. I think that you will regrow good amount of hair.

Then you could slowly decrease the dosage while applying it once a day.

perhaps in the long run i shall do so

but to be honest, im now convinced that minoxidil has some maintainer qualities. It keeps the follicles wider and helps them. Basically, although not fighting DHT it can help rejuvinate the follicles.

of course you need propecia alongside it.

id never start minoxidil if my hair wasnt bad though.

Contrary to many people from this forum, I also believe that minoxidil can somehow maintain. However, it makes the "MINOXIDIL hair" dependent on it.

Maintain the hair you gained while using Rogaine that is. :)
