Any chance of success with minoxidil/finasteride regiment at my stage? Pics included.

Hi all,

I'm 37, started losing hair at 19. I realize that I am pretty far gone at this stage, but I wanted to get some opinions on whether or not I might still be able to see some success from a minoxidil/propecia/nizoral regiment. I know that people respond differently, but I am curious if you think it's possible I might see some reasonable gains or if I should just forego any regiment and move towards hair transplant.

I have started to inquire about hair transplants, but I'm still pretty nervous about the financial commitment involved. And I can't shake the concern about having a scar from FUT for the rest of my life, so I am definitely hoping that I might have some luck with minoxidil/finasteride.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I can't really say what to expect from Minoxidil, and Finasteride as everyoen reacts differently but regardless I would suggest giving them a shot. You really only have the potential to gain from trying them out, and a lot of hair surgeons recommend being on minoxidil, and finasteride before getting one done. I don't think it will improve you hairline but I believe it would thicken your hairs on top and make it look more full. Just remember that finasteride and minoxidil both will cause shedding so you will see it get worse before it gets better.

As for the hair transplant if you are concerned about a scar from FUT you should maybe look into FUE, it doesn't leave a scar. But to get a reputable surgeon for FUE you're generally looking in Europe. They're an expense that's for sure, but you need to the weigh the cost to the benefit. I wish you luck.

I would definitely recommend both especially if you plan on getting a hair transplant for a number of reasons
