I read a lot of posts on this board where people say that transplants look like sh*t, or are easily detectable. I thought that with follicular transplants or FUE (no donor scar area) that the hairline good be constructed quite well. Or is it because of the density issue?

Personally, I would rather keep my hair using the proven meds. indefinitely but for a lot of us, it might not do the trick across the long term and we're faced with either accepting hair loss or getting an hair transplant.

My take on it is to avoid them until something comes up to address the density issue. But say 5-10 years down the road if the big 3 and other potential drugs aren't cutting it anymore, I think I'd happily get one if it would give me back a full head of hear. Are they really that easily detectable? We've come a long way from plugs.

Its definatley a density issue, hair transplant's provide only enough hair to give you a hairline and fill the back a bit. Nick Cage has reportedly spent $150k on his transplants and his hair still looks like sh*t. Density, Density, Density.

I have not seen FUE but imagine there is only a number of follicles available in that prodedure as well. Hair cloning or HM is our only hope if we cant stop the thinning.

If you have just a few thin spots and a receeded hairline I have heard that is the best time to get an hair transplant when you still have good density, then maintain what you have with Propecia and minoxidil.

I have had three hair transplant's over a period of 17 yrs. They have worked out fine and my hairline looks, well like a hairline.

hair transplants can work within an overall strategy for fighting male pattern baldness. They don't work well as an ONLY strategy.

IMHO!

A hair transplant is my last last resort in the battle. It seems like a very "easy" solution because you can just transplant hair and boom you have new hair. What people dont realize is there is just as much upkeep after the transplant as if you were using treatments alone.

For many folks, hair transplant is simply another weapon in the arsenal. I for one have to keep using male pattern baldness drugs AND have used hair transplants to get the overall look I want.

Dont know many who can get along just with hair transplant.
