5. Conclusions​

We have determined the mechanism of the anti-hair loss effect of policosanol using in vivo and in vitro experiments. The results indicate that policosanol reduces hair loss by returning abnormal hormone concentrations to normal, which reduces the apoptosis of DPCs and improves the nutrient supply that is required for hair growth. Thus, policosanol suppresses premature hair follicle entry into the regression phase, and thereby provides an effective treatment for Androgenetic Alopecia.
