G'day.

Im writing in from all the way down under (Australia). Im 21, and obviously suffering from hair loss.

My hair atm: M shape is showing up, and hair has thinned ALL over including sides. Prolly a NW1.5. For the past year, I've been thinning BADLY.

I have researched the crap outta this topic and have been reading this forum religiously, so have decided to register.

Now, I have questions, and I would appreciate if people who answered knew their answers as 100% facts from experience or some source reliable. This would help alot of people, thanks guys.

1. The skin of the sides is showing through, Im thinning all over? What does this indicate? Will my hair loss be worse, or more stable?

2. I want to start a regimen, WITHOUT finasteride. Staying away from it full stop. Please no attempts to persuade lol. I want to know..

a. What can I use at night only before bed as a good regimen to thicken up my hair and keep it? (An easy regimen)

b. A hair clinic here, puts crap in your hair once a week for 8 months and regrows lots of hair (I think using Saw Palmetto etc). How can they do this using once a week sessions when everyone here is on daily rituals?

- Basically, I need advice on what to use, WITHOUT finasteride. Anti-androgens is what Im after. Can I use minoxidil with anti-andro's, and with time when I cease the minoxidil, will the anti-andros have stablized the hairs that grew from minoxidil?

3. I am dropping at least 200 hairs a day! Whats happening to me! Ive only been using minoxidil for 1.5 weeks and Nizoral twice so far (btw I used minoxidil last yr on my "M" shape, and it grew my hair back, but after I ceased, from that day to now, I've lost sh*t LOADS of hair even where I didn't use minoxidil! any suggestions?)

4. Revivogen? Any comments? Experiences?
5. Saw Palmetto?
6. Folligen?

Whats the best anti-androgen out there? Something i can use once a day for the few months then cut down to 3 or 4 times a week. Remember I have most of my hair, I've just started shedding crazy (my hair is so thin) and little M shape.

Suggestions from experience?

Thanks Guys

Dude. You are balding - you are balding quickly (by your own terms)

There is nothing bette that will work than Propecia..

if you really care about saving your hair, you will use it.

if your hesitant enough not to use it, then don't expect too many results.

The clinics in Australia and wordwide that provide services will give you Propecia, they may just hide the name as you will work out that they are over charging you.

You really have to ask yourself? Do u want to give yourself the best chance or not?

I don't have a certain answer for that one, and i doubt if anyone here does. 100% certain answers to a certain person's situation are very hard to give. However, if you havent already, get your bloodwork done, and rule out any other factors which could be contributing to your hair loss. If you are tihnning the non-male pattern baldness area theres the off chance something is making your hair loss worse.

Now, thats a very, very big ask there :) An easy, night time only regimen to thicken up your hair and keep it.... without finasteride! Quite an achievement. If cost is no issue, dr proctors prescription proxiphen is a once a day combination treatment with loads of active ingredients. http://www.drproctor.com

If you really want to keep your hair, use finasteride. That;s what everyone here will tell you, and they're right. However, i am almost in the exact situation as you. Im about a norwood 1.5, im looking to thicken up a little (if im very lucky) and maintain my hair, and i don't want to use finasteride.

Every hair that you grow with minoxidil will be minoxidl dependent - you will need to keep using it to maintain your gains. Also, these gains might not be particularly stable.

Thats what im trying to find out too! However, i dont think any of them could be used any less than daily. You might need to research a bit more, as a lot of the things you are asking for unfortunately just dont exist. A once-a-day topical treatment, that thickened up and maintained hair, that you could cut down on over time... this would be an absolute godsend! Everything you use, you have to keep using to maintain your results.

Suggestions from experience?

Unfortunately i dont have any experience with products yet, but i have been looking around for the same sorts of things you are after for quite a while now, so i have a few suggestions (not in any order):

1) spironolactone/Revivogen combo. The creator of this site, HairLossTalk.com, quit finasteride and has maintained his hair for a number of years using Revivogen and Spironolactone (an antiandrogen), both twice daily. Now, this is an excellent result, and i think if you want real results you'll need to be a bit more flexible with the ease of your regimen... topicals twice daily will very likely be a requirement if you are going without finasteride.

2) Fluridil. If i can get some opinions on it (im still asking people here) it sounds like the antiandrogen you're looking for. Its apparently easy to apply, and only applied once daily. However it is expensive. If you only use half an ampule and seal the rest, order in bulk for free shipping, and complete a questionairre and get a free months supply, it becomes significantly cheaper however. If i decide to use it, i will do this.

3) Dr Proctors products. A very knowledgeable and experienced poster bryan maintained and even regrew his hair over 2 years using just over the counter prox-n and NANO shampoo. http://www.hairlosstalk.com/photogallery/pgbryan.htm

Hope that was of some help! Once i decide between spironolactone and fluridil, my regimen will be Prox-n, the antiandrogen, and NANO shampoo. Hopefully this will allow me to maintain my hair. Im keeping minoxidil and finasteride in reserve.

Btw whereabouts in aus are you from?
