Sup guys --

After extensive research I started my battle against hairloss today. Took my first dose of finasteride and I guess there is no looking back now! I'm excited to be doing something proactive, albeit a little concerned about sides. I finally realized that even though I've been able to conceal the thinning to make it completely unnoticable it's only going to get worse over time and not be able to be hidden anymore. Word of encouragment or comments on the regiment are welcome!'

.5mg finasteride
nizoral 3x / week
AC Cu Peptides once daily.

Well you are taking one of the proven treatments in the world for hair loss. So from that you are making the right move. nizoral will also help. It's so easy to pop a pill each day rather than applying minoxidil. I just take what you take. finasteride and nizoral.

It will be a bumpy ride with a few scares here and there. But if you want to try to keep what you have then don't jump ship when you think things are not working out. This is the mistake that many people make.

Keep us updated and good luck.. Do you have any pictures so that we can see what you are like already?

Congrats jc1978! I like how you stated that! You're taking a proactive step toward curing or helping out your hairloss challenge. Hey, it's definitely a step in the right direction. But just remember to keep priorities where they need to be and you'll be the better for it.

Good move.....but....I'd start out with the full 1mg instead of .5mg. Keep the idea of side effects far from your mind and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the comments guys!

The ease of use is definitely the attraction to finasteride. I'm reluctant to make major hormonal changes to my body, but the thought of spending hours of the day applying or dealing with the effects of having product all over my head is not appealing!

Like many people I'm warry of the dreaded "first shed" but I've never been a hair counter so figure I just won't notice.(hopefully!) Or maybe it won't even happen. Plus i'm trying to rationalize that even if I do have one they'll grow back, as opposed to shedding and never having them grow back if I didn't start treatment! I've had a very slow recession for years. I shaved my head for sports 2 + years ago and you could already see the temples had thinned. A couple years later they are noticably thinner but still covered by those little vellus hairs. I figure i've going to have any chance to regrow those back to pigmented ones I figure the time to start is now!

Keep your attitude positive. I think that's what gets so many users is their "woe is me, I'm so awful" outlook.

Stay positive. Be persistent with your regimen and work it into your lifestyle, just like brushing your teeth. And be patient. The statistics are on your side.

You know it's funny, but when a guy starts out on his journey of battling his hair loss, he's setting out on a frontier. It's a frontier because there's areas that are un-charted and unexplored. I really liked how you emphasized the importance of a positive outlook, Axon, as that's key to the beginnings of success in this frontier.
