hi there..I wouldn't give it up so soon..but it seems like you don't want any replies that make you hesitate...so here it is..

BTW, I am no expert or anything...but if you want to quit it, please do not stop cold turkey. maybe 6 days on the first week, then 5 days on the second week, and 4 days....
Wean off!

Jesus, dude...2.5 months isn't anywhere NEAR long enough. Hell, it took almost 18 months for me to see real improvement, and my shed didn't really slow down for at LEAST the first 6 months!

Stick it out.

But, if you stop...don't waste money on Rogaine. Rogaine doesn't address the root cause of hair loss.

Sounds like a mistake man, exactly what they advise you not to do. Think of it this way, if you aren't getting any side effects, how is stopping finasteride going to HELP you? finasteride won't make your hair loss worse as the rapidly shedding hairs will grow back if you stick with it. Don't take 2.5mg a day either, 1mg is the correct dose and multiple dosing isn't advised.

The shedding is likely from the Rogaine, which often causes a shed after a couple months followed by results at the six month stage, so if you're going to take anything out make it the Rogaine. I'm sure you've read something that says 'some men panic and assume the treatment isn't working, when in fact the shedding is a sign the medication is taking action'? That's you right now!

Sorry mate but just the facts, would be a shame to lose your hair because you panicked - read this if you don't believe me

The shedding is often a positive sign and is most likely from the minoxidil

I started at .5 mg for a week or so then stayed at 1mg for the rest of the time i was on it (about 3 months or so) with rogaine and keto and right at the end my hair stopped shedding completely and I started regrowing alot on my hairline. I ran out at that time though and I didn't like the chance of changing my hormones so I didn't get back on the big 3 and afew months later my hormones were back to normal and now I shed a ton of hair :|.

How about this....if you stop finasteride, you are 1000000% GUARANTEED to lose your hair. finasteride's your only hope, sadly.

You say that you're tired of shedding. Ok, but what is stopping the only FDA approved way of halting/slowing hairloss going to do? You'll go right back to losing your hair, just like you were before you started finasteride.

You can't expect results from anything in less than 3 months. I have no idea what i'm talking about with most of this stuff and even I know that.

You should consider yourself lucky that you did not have to deal with any side effects from taking finasteride, although I don't even understand how it's possible to not have side effect, given the way it works but whatever, I think it's just a trade that people make - hair or being a man - how the **** do you make that decision?\ finasteride helped my hair situation so much. It about breaks my heart that I had to stop it due to side effects.

Give it more time if you're not having side effects or if you do come off of it, taper down. Don't cold turkey it. That's what I did. And it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Just a bit of advice, sorry if I came across a little blunt - it's a stressful thing. It's just clear that you're making a basic mistake that this and other sites warn against - quitting at the first sign of shedding! You wouldn't be the first, it's bound to be worrying. Look at the success stories if you want to see guys going through sheds, hanging tough and coming out with great results.

"Rogaine doesn't address the root cause of hair loss." And so what? It doesn't have to address "the root cause" to be effective. People can maintain hair on 5% minoxidil for 15+ years. And judging from my own 16-years' experience and the early long-term studies, this seems like a common result to me.

Why 2.5mg? It seems like a radical choice to go with 2.5mg and also a radical choice to stop radical.
Just lower the dose to the normal advised 1mg and continue and make your decision after a year.
