Hello guys,
Let me introduce myself since I am new to this forum! My name is Samuel Song and I just recently joined the forum because of hair loss related issues! The past couple of months, I have been diffusing around the scalp. Not only am I showing the signs of typical male baldness, I am showing diffusing thinning all over my scalp. Hairs have been faling in the back, temple, vertex, crown, and frontal region. I have done a lot of research and based on my symptoms, I believe that this is not a typical male pattern baldness and could be signs of Telogen effluvium. Well during my senior year in undergrad as a biology students, I have been in a toughful situation. I have been not sleeping for couple days straight due to studying and when I had the time to sleep, I would sleep for about 1-2 hours daily. During this time, my diet was poor, drinking around 6 cups of coffee and 2 bottles of daily 5 hour energy drink. I was constantly stressed for 2 whole semesters and my diet was very poor! So I was stress from 2010 August to May 14, 2011 (last semester of school). Signs of hairloss started during the month of February 2011. I was shedding quite a bit and have loss around 20% of hair as of now (Sep 2011). I wanted to know if I was suffering from Telogen Effluvium or male pattern baldness? As of now, my hairloss has been completed halted and see regrowth (using propecia and monxodil for about 5 months). My hair is growing fuller and fuller everyday. I also did some research on DUPA. DUPA is a rare genetic hairloss pattern that effects both side and back of the head. This genetic disorder does not respond very well to finasteride or monoxidil. Well, I only applied monxodil to the temple and crown but not the back, but the back is becoming very thick.
So, am I suffering from male pattern baldness or Telogen Effluvium. I do see some minaturization but I also believe that minaturaization is a symptom of Telogen Effluvium. Please let me know what you think!

IMO, it sounds like telogen effluvium just because it's happening so quickly and is affecting all parts of your head, but only time will tell. Reduce your stress and start taking care of yourself, and see if you recover.
