Hi guys,

I will turn 26 in February 2019. I first noticed hair loss in March 2018 when I cut my hair very short. I had the feeling that im thinning all over my upper head. Then I compared current pics with old ones and realized that my temples are slowly receding as well. I have to admit though that I never really had a straight hair line. Since I'm a child I had a mature hair line thing that got more obvious within the last years. On top, my temples never looked the same. The right one was always bigger than the left one. Finally, I have a strong whirl. I can remember how a friend tolf me at the age of 15 that my whirl is pretty big. A lot of people in my family are having hair loss so I assume I just got some shitty genetics.

When my hair is long and dry I'm still confident with my current hair and nobody has realized so far that I'm thinning out. But I don't want to loose more ground. That would make me upset. My primary goal is to keep what I have. If I can do some regrowth, great, but I don't expect too much to be honest.

Therefore, my regime from now on:
-1 or 1,25mg finasteride generica
-Ketoconazol Shampoo 2x/week
- I'm working out a lot (4x and more per week) and eat healthy (getting all vitamins/micros etc).

After 6 months I will add Minoxidil into my regimen but first I want to see the impact of finasteride on my hair and by doing so I can clearly relate any potential sides to finasteride or minoxidil.

Question 1: Am I a Norwood 1 diffuse thinner or even worse?
Question 2: Should I straight start with Minoxidil as well? I am a bit afraid that I could go through a strong shed which woud kill my current hair status.

Attached in this post you can find my current hair status

Best regards from Germany

If you can arrest hairloss from now on you will be fine. The hair still looks fuller to be. Do not play with your health while kept hair. Best luck.

Kind of in the same boat as you are man.

I think starting fina and just checking how that works out for now is a good idea. I hear diffusers seem to respond seemingly well to finasteride so with a bit of luck you might see some thicker hair. Who knows!

I hope you respond well and best of luck with your hair situation mate! Would be nice if you keep us posted, since your situation is similar to mine and I’d like to see how everything’s going for you!

Cheers man!

@recedingornot87 My hair didnt change that much since I was 21 that is right. But the loss in my temples and density increased within the last 12 months. I can feel that difference when I go through my hair.
My dad is 58 years old and NW4. Hairloss started around 35 years old. My brother (32 years) is a diffuse thinner as well. At the age of 25 it was already obvious to see that.

@charlie: nice to read your words man. It took me about a month to decide whether I should take fina or not. Of course I also read all the horror stories you can find here and elsewhere. You get the opinion that it kills your dick within seconds after you took the first pill :D
I took Isotretinoin because of acne for more than a year and when I was considering to take it I read similar horror stories about it in the internet. But I never had any sides. Most important thing is that you have a common sense when taking this kind of medications. If you get serious sides then reduce the med or don't take it anymore and your health will be fine.

I will take my first pill today (1,25mg). I'm a bit excited to be honest but also happy that I start to fight the f*****g hairloss. I will post pics and give updates every 3 months in this thread.

My regimen for the first 3 months:
- 1,25mg Fina every day
- ketoconazol shampoo 2x/week.

First conclusion after 3 months. Then I will think about adding minoxidil and Dermaroller into my regimen

Keep your fingers crossed for me friends

3 Months Update:

Today marks 3 months on Finasteride 1,25mg and Nizoral 2 % 2x/week and I wanted to keep track of my journey. So here are my observations so far. I won't post pics bc the look of my hair dint change at all:

- I havent experienced any rerowth yet
- No sides yet (I had very very increased sex drive for like 10 days but I met my gf during this time so I think that was the reason for it)
- shedding decreased a lot. Before finasteride and the first 2 months into treatment I was easily loosing 120+ hairs just showering and blow drying my hair. Now I loose like 50-80 hairs. I didnt experience a significant increase in shedding and my hair havent visually got worse so far. I would say I'm more or less on baseline.
- my scalp itch, which was driving my crazy pre finasteride, is more or less gone. I still get a itch here and there but it's nothing comparable to that f*****g itch I had before treatments. I sometimes had problems to fall asleep or concentrate during work because of the itch
- My scalp gets less oily as well. Before treatments my hair became super oily during the day and I had to wash it every day. Now I can easly gpo 2 days without washing
- Maybe it's just my mind that's bullshitting me but my hair feels and looks a bit healthier. It's also a bit easier to style. However, I'm not sure about this observation.

Next update after 3 more months and then hopefully I'll be able to share some regrowth experience with you guys haha

The thinness of my hair looks almost identical to yours, and it's a scary situation. I was unlucky and began getting a mature hairline at 14 which was horrifying (I am an NW1.5 now), and was the age classmates began pointing out how the parting in my hair was getting wider. What is even worse is when you begin looking at your families history with balding, and then going into panic mode! Every single man on my mothers side of the family has suffered with diffuse baldness, and I don't want to ever go through that situation.

I am going on a more 'extreme' regimen though, since I desperately want to discontinue my use of Accutane permanently too. I wish I would have realised how dangerous Accutane truly is because I am now potentially suffering with some sort of cirrhosis of the liver because of it, just after 1.5 months of use on a relatively low dose!

Try some massage with finasteride and nizoral. Massage helps to drain clogged inflammatory agents and increase growth stimulants. Best luck Buddy.

When I was 19 I had thick hair af.. I couldn't even dream about getting into the situation I'm right now. But yeah since I know that I'm balding I took a deeper look into the hair situation of my relatives. On my mom's side basically everyone is diffuse thinning. Men on my dad's side start to receed in their mid 30s.

Seems like I got shitty genetics from both sides like my older brother but I'm optimistic bc I think I caught it early and already show some slight response to the meds. Let's see how it will go in future. I'll keep you guys posted!
