If I can pull a few hairs from my crown and can plainly see that a few of those hairs have lost pigment and are thinner then my normal hairs does that mean I am going bald for sure? My crown does look thinner.

yo word up to the alphabet guy. Here's Ramboner's 4 step program to tell if you're losing your hair.

Step 1: Do you by any chance have an annoying uncle who use to come over, wear really ugly christmas sweaters, dance like an idiot and oh ya was missing tons of hair?

Step2: after u come out of the shower and you look at yourself in the mirror, do you ever say :" Holly fudgesickles where's my hair!?"

Step 3: When you are doing your anthropology homework. Do u notice more hair on your book than on the neanderthal?

Step 4: Has an obnoxious russian acquaintance at school blatantly asked you if you are going bald lately?

If the answer to any of these is yes then ya dude you're losing hair (male pattern baldness) :(
The fact that you asked random people on a forum sparing the least amount of details about yourself illustrates your fear. This thing can eat you alive if you let it. It's a beast of miniature or epic proportions depending on what u feed it. Sit down with you're family or friends and discuss it. How do you feel about it. If you really cherish your hair then talk to your doctor about Rogaine and Propecia and that pink shampoo NIZORAL.
Remember the take home message is ONLY YOU can prevent forest fires.
Y'all know mah name,

I guess ill need to post pictures. Maybe it will give a better idea although my hair is still kinda thick. Hairloss is only on my moms side, but no one in my family is a norwood 6 or 7. My uncles are like 40 and just receding not that bad. One uncle has a small bald spot on back.

please don't try to deny it because of whatever family genetic reason you are thinking, nobody could be bald and you could still have it...

everyones hair is "still kinda thick" when they start male pattern baldness

Ramboner doesn't like to make educated guesses mainly because he's not much very educated himself. But unless he be crazy, a man who isn't balding will never notice himself balding. I guess we can add this as step 5 eh. hugs n kisses

No.

Well, let me qualify that answer. You might lose some hair, get thin in places, and have some hairline recession. And, it is true that these are all, technically, signs of male pattern baldness but keep in mind that not everyone with male pattern baldness loses all their hair, or even loses a large portion of it.

Some male pattern baldness sufferers just get some thinning in certain areas, and hold that hairline for decades. Some just get a high forehead, or some corner recession, and end up "growing into" this hairline as they get older.

The first thing to remember and keep in mind is to NOT PANIC. Keep an eye on your hair, perhaps start up with some Nizoral 2-3/x a week, and see what happens.
