am i going bald?

If i rub my hair a few times a piece of hair will fall out. If i grab through my hair, a piece of hair will fall out. Is this normal? Ive seen people able to tell if they are balding by checking hair loss in the shower or on the pillow case. How much hair loss is an indicator that you are balding? My hair has always been thin and soft, but i dont have any noticeable receding. I am 23 and my mothers sisters children are pretty bald. My mothers dad was bald. Thanks
