I'm sorry this post is so long, but I just have so many concerns and questions if anyone would like to hear my story and respond I would greatly appreciate it. I am 22 years old and up until I turned 21 I never thought I was going to go bald. Now I seem to be losing hair all of the time in fairly large quantitites mostly at the hairline and apex, but generally all over the top of my scalp and I can obviously tell my hair is thinning. I started using minoxidil for a few months but stopped that when i ordered some of that finpecia stuff over the internet (which i dont even think is real cause ive been on it for 200 days with no noticable difference).
But I think its crazy how much hair ive lost so quickly. I just learned yesterday about the existence of Telogen Effluvium; i had never even heard of that before. In the last year and a half I have lost my father, left a long term relationship, been generally stressed out at school (I stress out rather easily), severed my achilles tendon by slicing my heel on a piece of glass, and just generally been panicking about male pattern baldness. I have also been on a very restrictive diet for the past 3 - 3.5 months from which I have gone from 250 - 208 lbs. Do you think that these could be the causes of my hair loss and that I have Telogen Effluvium? I was under that impression that when one goes through male pattern baldness that you dont necessarily lose hair more quickly, but that it just doesnt come back as quickly (or as high a quality). I lose about 40- 60 hairs in the shower, as well as i can run my fingers through the top of my head (without pulling) and get between 1-4 hairs in my hand almost every time. Is that normal in male pattern baldness or does that sound more like Telogen Effluvium?
I also expect to go through male pattern baldness as it runs in the family, but I was hoping that it wouldnt happen while I was so young. If I am destined for male pattern baldness and get Telogen Effluvium, will I still gain back a lot of the hair I lost when the Telogen Effluvium resolves? Also should I stop the finpecia or legitimate finasteride treatment (I ordered some proscar when I told myself finpecia is BS) or after 200 days on finpecia would you think that it wouldnt matter if I continued finasteride. Im starting to do the minoxidil again because I read that it was acceptable. Also, you think that walmart's generic minoxidil is as good as rogaine, cause i have a bottle of rogaine left but dont want to spend to money if i go out and get some more
