Hi guys, i'm new to the forum and it is sad seeing that this would be my first open thread but I had no choice. Growing up ( till 16 ) I had really thick curly/wavy hair. Just a few month ago, I started noticing that my hair is becoming very thin. The only was I got it to get this straight and thin before was to straighten it using a flat iron ( don't judge ). However, now all I have to do is just blow dry it and it becomes kinda straight. Right now I can see my scalp showing at the front of my head. My point is that my hair has become really really thin. I shower every morning before school, and I also use just head and shoulder on my hair. I have no where else to turn but to you guys, and if this is serious I will go check in with a doctor ( I don't wanna do that) all help will be highly appreciated it, thanks in advance. Sorry if the pictures are not clear, but I think they are fine. If you need more picture to conclude please tell me! I'm paranoid as you can tell lol

looks like some possible miniaturization at the front you may want to see a derm to confirm it is male pattern baldness. If it is male pattern baldness than you will probably want to start finasteride 1mg daily unless you are possibly still going through puberty and your a late bloomer. How is the hair pull test? Is there a clear high amount of shedding when you pull by your temples and at the crown vs. the back and side of your head? Or is it indistinguishable?

Hard to tell anything from close up selfies with no "before" pictures. You will know best yourself if things are worse than a few years ago or not. It doesn't look bad to me, I had like an inch of recession during the year I was 16 and it was pretty obvious to me. The last 2 pictures show a bit of thinning to me possibly, but I don't know how those areas looked in the past so who knows. Most of the other pictures are just close ups of partings and cowlicks etc. that I wouldn't worry about. Keep an eye on it I would suggest (not obsess about it), you wouldn't really want to take anything like finasteride for another year any way.

You are going through puberty. Your hair will often change textures during this time. You also will have explosive hormones and body changes. Included in these body changes there may be episodes of hair shedding. I wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't even think about propecia until you are at least 18 and know for sure you are going bald. I wouldn't start a single treatment. You will only stress about your hair more and be convinced you are going bald if you start treating your imaginary hair loss.

I dont think you are, in that second pic for example, I can see your hairline is actually perfect despite having thinner hairs at the hairline which I and many others who arn't losing hair have. Trust me I have been paranoid about losing my hair since 18, I am now 26 and I have had such hairs at the hairline since then with no change or loss.

The difference between you and me is, you have what I believe is a female hairline which when it comes to hairloss is a very good thing. I think you are safe.

No mate, why are you even considering shaving it all off? It is impossible to tell you you are "safe", but it doesn't look like hair loss. People without male pattern baldness have fine hair in the hairline, as do many women.

tbh I wanna see how bad I look without hair, but anyways, My hairline is not receding( I think it is not ), only the hairs are getting thinner. Everyone from my moms side is bald ( uncles ) however everyone on my dads has full grown nice thick slick hair ( they are 40 + years old ) Should I start worrying? Thanks for the replies as I am panacking atm lol

here are my before and after pics. check out my regimen to know what it takes to do this. Don't stress, even if it is male pattern baldness it's not as hopeless as it was a decade ago. I personally don't consider my regimen as an impossible one to keep up for the long term. It's all natural, no side-effects. actually makes you more healthy!

ALSO, DOES YOUR DAD HAVE male pattern baldness? that might give you a better idea about the probability. if he does, take into account when his balding started and how aggressive it was. btw are you being overly stressed at school, just look at all possible contributing factors.
Holy! You got really good results, Lucky you! and I hope what ever your saying is true!! However, my dad still has full head of nice hair, no signs of male pattern baldness. I heard the genetics are from your moms side which if it then im doomed because everyone on there is bald.

If I were you, I'd just keep an eye on it. Compare your hair in 6 months to a years time to this, and if you notice any further recession/thinning, then jump on the treatments.
