Am I doing myself a disservice by not taking finasteride daily?

I've been taking it for almost 5 months now but I average only 1.25mg every two days. Sometimes it's slightly longer, and sometimes I take it two days in a row. I have been consistently taking it the whole time (meaning never missing a dose for more than 4 days).

From what I understand (based on the studies), the finasteride is lowering my DHT levels significantly, and they only rise very slightly in 48 hours. So theoretically I'm not really losing any major benefit by not taking it daily, right?

But does dosing every 48 hours make a person more susceptible to RH or sides? I've noticed that my erection quality/libido sort of fluctuates day by day, and I have random acne breakouts on my forehead (which I previously never had). Makes me wonder if my hormones have become completely out of whack and that this might be harming my hair.

Somebody who knows - please give me peace of mind on this issue.

I think even 4 days is too long. The finasteride will be out of your body by the first day. 5-alpha reductase regenerates slowly, but 4 days might be pushing it. Why don't you just take it everyday?

Everyone is different, but I think you eventually will hit the bottom with 1.25 mg finasterid EOD. The very same level you would reach with a daily dose. How much the level will swing when that happens, depends on your body. Your hormone levels should be stable and in balance, which means I recommend a daily dose of finasteride, if you're going to use it. Acne and swinging libido indicates unstable hormone values.
