Am I balding?

Hi,

I'm a 20-year old male and have recently been concerned about my hairline. Actually, more than just recently. In 6th grade my health teacher told us that if our grandfather from our mom's side was bald, we were screwed. Well, my grandpa is bald and 12-year-old-me was a little uneasy after that even though there is no baldness on my dad's side at all.

Even though I haven't physically seen any significant hair loss (no follicles on the pillow, in the shower, etc.) or even miniaturization of follicles, I have noticed that I have fewer hairs at the front.

Here is a photo from 2 years ago (left) and today (right): i.imgur.com/386rdB3.jpg.

Here is one with my hair pulled back if it helps: i.imgur.com/gwz2wq1.jpg

Is this the start of a receding hairline or am I being paranoid?

Thanks.

Definitely you are receding...It's Norwood 1 or maybe 2 I think...(I don't know how to differentiate between NW1 or NW2,though I know how to differentiate between NW2 & NW3)...
Start treatment early specially as your grand-dad is bald....
Hope you can keep this hairline....

I am also 20 and in similar situation. But you are receding, most probably. You're an Norwood 1.5-2

Yep, you're pretty much a receeding Norwood 1½. Your left temple looks a bit worse off in that picture (could be just the picture, though), which to me indicates hair loss. In the case of a "mature hairline", it usually evens out pretty nicely, but I think there's some miniaturization and receeding going on in your case. Very mild at present, though.

I would visit a derm or a hair transplant-Doctor to get an official word on it, then potentially get on Finasteride, with which you'd likely maintain all that (full head of hair in my books, still). Alternatively and or in addition - you can keep track of your hair on a monthly basis or so, taking pictures and assessing your situation.

Looks like you are losing hair. Now it's time to decide if you are willing to do something about it...

@ Notcoolanymore,
I like your catchline very much....So,true....
Actually dutasteride is a pretty much of a nuclear bomb for DHT I will say(If you use the 2.5mg dose daily)...
