Am I balding?

Hi,I went to a dermatologist to see if my hair was fine because sometimes it gets greasy, the dermatologist that says that baldness is not genetic, he says that it is caused by sebum, he also says that if I keep my hair large it will shed a lot. Well what happens is that he told me that I shed a lot of hair, that normal shedding is 15 hairs per day this is the amount that a normal person sheds., so what the hell!!!, I read here and in many sites that a person should shed 100 hairs a day. The man gave me propecia telling me that it would stop the shedding, I seriously doubt from his opinion. He also did a hair pull test and he said that in those hairs there was a miniaturized hair, but you say that even normal persons have miniaturized hairs and vellus hairs. I think my hair is fine.

here are some pics

Male pattern baldness is genetic, if the hairloss gets worse with excess of sebum, that I dont know. There seems to be a little thinning on your hairline but it is hard to tell from those pictures because your hair is long. Do you have any bald relatives? Father, grandfather?
If you notice your hairline receding get on propecia and you might just save all of your hair :)

Theres no strong evidence to suggest that you're balding. And yes the Derm was talking BS m.p.b is 100% genetic.

Sounds like your Doctor is a quack. Pretty much everything he told you is incorrect. If he's trying to push a product on you, I would be very concerned.

Can't see any hairloss in your pics. You seem to be a nw1-2. I wouldn't worry about it.

do you have a family history of male pattern baldness or any other forms of hairloss?
most people lose their hair the same age as their dad

i would say your a norwood 2 but the fact of the matter is that most people in their lives recide to a norwood 2 and it's really common for somone to go to a norwood 2 and then go no further, dr rasssman even refers to a norwood 1 as the "children's hairline" but it's also common for people who are norwood 2 to think they are losing their hair
but i don't think you have anything to worry about
