Am I balding? (19 y/o) pics

Hi, everyone. I'm 19 years old (20 in Oct) and I've wondered for a while whether or not I'm balding. Here's my history.

For the longest time I've known my hairline is much higher than the average person's. I remember back in grade school, I used to sometimes lift my hair up from my forehead and pretend I was bald, much to the amusement of my classmates. As a freshman in high school, I had someone straight up tell me I was balding, citing the hair receding away from my temples as evidence. But I had hardly even started puberty at that age, so I more or less dismissed his comment.

For the 5 years since that point, I've noticed (or at least imagined) my hairline has been getting further back. It's especially noticeable at the temples, where the edge that looks receding has become more prominent. As far as thickness, the hair near my temples does seem thinner than the rest. Also, I don't see any balding at my crown, but I'll let you be the judge of that.

My family's history with balding can pretty much be summarized in this way: Every male on my mom's side of my family is balding, and every male on my dad's is not. That's a bit worrying to me because I've heard balding comes from your mom's side of the family, though you can't believe everything you hear. My brothers have a similar thing going on as me, but they're around the same age as me so I can't really draw any conclusions from them.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I see what looks like some temporal recession. Top looks good and your hair is awesome, so I imagine it covers the temples pretty well.

Your temporal area doesn't look scary or anything, it just seems that you've receded beyond a mature hairline.

I'd say to look at pictures of yourself through the years to be sure, but if you've kept it long it'll probably be hard to tell. Your best bet is probably to look at pictures of the bald/partially bald males in your family from when they were in their 20's. If you see some dudes with a hairline like yours in their 20's that are now pretty bald, you're probably balding.

The only real treatments for male pattern hair loss are Finasteride/Dutasteride & Minoxidil - lots of guys throw in Nizoral shampoo as well for some synergistic benefit. Any other vitamins, supplements or cremes will not do anything on their own but may provide some benefit alongside a proper treatment.

Do your research on the treatments and family history, then decide how you want to go. Don't stress!

Your temples are receded but hair seems to be healthy everywhere else.My hair looked a lot like that at 16,then I began to notice shedding accompanied by miniaturization at the temples. My advice to you would be to start treatments if you notice any shedding or the constant itching.

Anyway take pics once in every 3 or 4 months and compare them to see whether things get any worse.

Don't we all have some miniaturized hairs on front of the hairline? I saw them in front of my hairline too and had some panic going on. But yesterday I saw them on my girlfriend's hairline too? What's up with that? My theory for males is that we all turn into a mature hairline after the adolescence so those miniaturized hairs are just remnants from our childood hairline. But what about females? Why do they have them too?

As long as you dont show signs of hairloss anywhere else,a little miniaturization in the front is no big deal.I think its just like acne, some get it and some dont. Its all got to do with your hormonal levels.
