Hi Guys,

Im 28 and i started losing my hair pretty badly at 22. Ive battled and i mean BATTLED this balding condition with the big 3 (finasteride, nizoral, and minoxidil)

This thread is about Finasteride. im looking(needing) and alternative. Propecia really works for me. After about a year on it i stopped using it because of some very minor sides. I noticed a big increase in my hairloss, so after about 8 months i went back on the propecia. Now ive been on it for about 2 years and now im noticing the sides are getting worse. Im not comfortable with keeping using it because im afraid it will prevent me from having kids in the long run. im not ready for them yet but in a few years i plan to have children.

Im looking for something to help me keep this amazing growth ive seen with the big 3 but i need to get off this finasteride. I plan to take saw palmetto herb capsules but i know that this is just a natural remedy and not a real medicine that can fix my problem.

Is dutasteride a medication i should try? what other alternatives do i have??

Thanks for the insight

There really arent any thats why so many people still use it. No one enjoys the sides or risks but they do it because they want the hair. You could play with the dosage, try RU. dutasteride is stronger than finasteride so I dont know if that is a smart move. If you can afford it maybe you should see a derm that knows about hair and talk your options through with him.

The only thing you can do aside from finasteride is to balance your hormone levels of testosterone and estrogen.

Get an hair transplant with PRP for maintainence. Expensive as hell.
Try RU58841. Still pricey but not much.
Listen to diablodh and you COULD become a NW0 again

Testosterone levels are improved with:
1. Resistance training in short bursts
2. eat less refined carbohydrates and more fat and proteins 30% carbs / 30% protein /40% fat (good fats are in red meat, fish, nuts)
3. make sure you have enough zinc in your diet 30mg per day
4. loose fat, get your BMI to 25
5. reduce stress
6. make regular sex
7. 8h of sleep

If you can afford get CB-03-01; a topical antiandrogen supposed to have no systemic effect. Or perhaps RU, albeit RU is not devoid of systemic effect, but so far almost none reported.

Any side effects should go away within a few weeks. If you are off finasteride for a month and notice no change, it's not the finasteride by that time the finasteride will be out of your system and your hormones will be in a natural range. You can also try other finasteride brands or avodart (dutasteride).
