Hi there. I've been really obsessing about my hairline in the last couple months. It sometimes really brings me down. And I understand a lot of people are still going to think I shouldn't worry, I am. I think I'm a nw2 at this point. I don't have any shedding or thinning in the back or on top. Only on my hairline. I first noticed when I was 22 or 23 that it receded a little. Didn't think much of it, had long hair the whole time. Now there's a noticeable difference. When I was 18/19 I had the typical juvenile hairline and now this. Just want to hear some feedback as this has seemed to be a slow progression. I'm very skeptical about any hair loss drugs and would rather not take them. But I also would really hate being a nw3 or worse. Thanks.

I should also note that I have heart block which requires me to have a pacemaker. A genetic disorder. Not sure if that matters when considering these drugs at all.

From those pictures I see no miniaturization on your hairline. Your hair could possibly stay that way for the rest of your life without treatment. Do you have a history of male pattern baldness in your family?
And I wouldn't call that a NW2.

Worse or better than nw2?
Its kinda of scattered with my family. My dad says mine is going the almost exact way his was going. He is 55 now and is a tolerable nw3. when he styles it you can't even tell. grandfather on moms side was thinning all over but not bald in his 60's. My fathers side grandfather is bald. My great grandfather on mothers side had full hair. My uncle (moms side) has full hair almost 40. So yeah I'm not sure I can't get much info based on that.

Better. I don't think you need any treatment yet. I would monitor your situation and if you see your hairline continue to go back then consider finasteride. It is completely normal for your hairline to recede at the temples slightly between your teens and 20s (mature hairline). This does not mean it will progress into male pattern baldness. Some better close-up pictures of your hairline would help though.

The quality of your hair on your hairline is superb. It is very rare that those pictures of people pulling their hair back with their hand looks good, it usually makes everything look far worse than it really is even for non balding females. I think you are absolutely fine tbh. You just need to keep an eye on it tho given you say that your hairline has indeed changed shape. Check out ewan mcgregors hairline. He is proof you can have a hairline like that that barely changes over the years.

Looks solid, if you ever decide to use treatment i wouldnt go with minoxidil with your health history.

Thanks for the reply's. So if I did ever consider a medication would finasteride be the better option? Taking into account that it would be for my hairline and my heart condition.

Your hair looks very good. Do keep an eye on your hair overall considering Male Pattern Baldness runs in your family. Yes, Finasteride would be the better option, no need to get on it unless you know 100% you're balding. I always like to recommend those with nice locks like yourself for example who are worried about hair loss that it's best to see a specialist such as a hair transplant surgeon if there are any concerns.

There is another hair loss treatment for topical use which can be bought over the counter, which is known as Minoxidil. However, I personally would never recommend this treatment for someone like yourself as it can actually cause heart related side effects, so that certainly is not an option.
