if u go on the all the finasteride and propecia hate sites, there will be tons of threads with people saying they took propecia for one day to a few weeks and instantly got ED and all list of problems, mean while we have members on here who take have taken it for YEARS non-stop with no problems...

someone explain this i find this interesting people claim to take propecia for less than 7 days and get horrible symptoms and instant ED but when u take something like prohormones or anabolic steroids they dont even make a difference for at-least 4-5 weeks.

im about to order my finasteride tomorrow, and im gonna try it out and see how it does

finasteride starts working very quickly sides will usually take place within first week or two. Once you get past the first 3 weeks and don't have sides you are pretty much in the clear and will likely never get finasteride related sides

I have seen people complain of it happening within hours though of taking a pill (lol)

My first time taking if I went into an anxiety attack and thought I had finasteride depression by day 2. I still haven't started it so don't know if it gives me sides or not.

I couldn't get it up 10min after I took the first one.. And I knew there was no way that finasteride did it, but my mind is weak. Took me a few days to stop psyching myself. After that placebo induced scare, I have had no problems whatsoever. And I'm coming up on 7months now.

So, to answer your question, I think many people think they have sides. There is a paper that shows how dramatically increasing the incidence of sides are when the test persons are aware of possible side effects..

You mean like how guys get wood within an hour of taking v****? Or eliminate a headache within an hour of taking aspirin?

The placebo effect is incredibly strong.

If you believe it will cause side effects, it will.

If you feel you must use Propecia to maintain hair growth, but are concerned with side effects, you can use it in conjunction with Natural phyto-Estrogen w/Pomegranate Extract to ameliorate or prevent side effects.

I believe that genetics and diet will affect how your body will react to finasteride.

DHT is a more potent form of testosterone, and you have significantly less DHT than testosterone in your body. If you take fanasteride, your body must compensate for the lack of DHT by producing more testosterone. This why, for most people, finasteride raise testosterone.

However, some people may not be able to produce more testosterone because of a bad diet. For example, refined carbonhydrate will drop your testosterone level 25%, no wonder why some people may lack libido if they don't let their body compensate for the lack of DHT via a bad diet.

so basically make sure you compensate for the side effects with a few supplements to keep testosterone going

In today's chemical and polluted world, it is not surprising some men cannot make enough testosterone

If the sides are real or not the nocebo will mess you up to the point that they're real now. You have to first have the mental strength then you have to hope that you don't get genuine sides.

If you believe the placebo that

" finasteride messes you up, but not if you make sure you produce enough testosterone "

then you can override the previous placebo effect

But you should be taking supplements that will neutralise the side effects anyway, to be on the safe side

Your initial comment was so badly informed, that I'm sure you wouldn't understand a real explanation, even if I gave it to you.

This coming from someone who says they had a "placebo induced scare".

I know you don't so I pasted so you can http://www.pfsfoundation.org/news/c...-a-harvard-medical-school-teaching-affiliate/

The Post-Finasteride Syndrome Foundation today announced the funding of a major clinical study on post-finasteride syndrome (PFS) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
Titled “A Preliminary, Hypothesis-Generating Investigation of the Post-Finasteride Syndrome: Description of the Phenotype, and Elucidation of the Hormonal, Genetic and Epigenetic Mechanisms”, the study is being led by Shalender Bhasin, M.D., Director of the Research Program in Men’s Health: Aging and Metabolism at BWH.
The objective of this systematic investigation will be to determine whether there is a syndromic constellation of signs, symptoms and hormone levels that characterize PFS.
PFS has been reported to occur in men who have taken the prescription drug finasteride to treat hair loss (under the brand name Propecia and generics), or enlarged prostates (Proscar and generics).
Reported symptoms include loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, penile shrinkage, gynecomastia, muscle atrophy, cognitive impairment, severely dry skin, and depression. The condition often has a life-altering impact on victims and their families, such as job loss and the breakup of marriages and romantic relationships, while also being linked to suicides.
Methods of the BWH study are as follows:

  1. Evaluate sexual, psychological and cognitive function
  2. Assess hormone levels and metabolic parameters
  3. Identify epigenetic interactions with the androgen receptor (AR) and gene expression of AR-dependent genes
  4. Perform magnetic resonance imaging of the brain in a group of subjects consisting of PFS patients, former asymptomatic users of finasteride for male pattern hair loss, and age matched controls
The PFS Foundation believes this study will:

  • Help establish PFS as a bona fide condition
  • Help uncover some of the underlying biological mechanisms of PFS
  • Elucidate the hormonal, genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of PFS
  • Provide leads for the development of mechanism-specific therapeutic strategies
Patient recruitment is currently underway. Prospective patients may call Allen Papazian at (617)525-9197 to determine if they are eligible.
“This study promises to be an important step in our progress toward better understanding post-finasteride syndrome,” said PFS Foundation CEO Dr. John Santmann.

On April 11, 2012, the Food and Drug Administration ordered drug manufacturer Merck to revise the labeling on Propecia to reflect mounting evidence that it can cause persistent sexual dysfunction. Of the 421 Propecia-related sexual dysfunction cases reviewed by the FDA in its probe, 14 percent lasted longer than three months after patients quit the drug.
About Dr. Shalender Bhasin
Dr. Bhasin is an internationally recognized reproductive endocrinologist with expertise in androgen biology who is director of the Men’s Health Unit, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism in the Department of Internal Medicine at BWH. He has served in many national and international leadership positions, including Chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine: Endocrinology & Metabolism Subspecialty Board, Chair of the Endocrine Society’s Expert Panel on Androgen Deficiencies in Men, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.

It's true, I was definitely scared of finasteride. Now I am approaching a strong Norwood 1. I genuinely hate scare mongering. It nearly got me.
Did you even try finasteride before resorting to RU? Though, RU is 100% safe, according to anecdotes I have read on here...

I used it for about two years. It resulted in very weak wood and watery semen. Furthermore it gave me brain fog. The libido returned within a few months upon after cessatation but the brain fog lasted considerably longer. Since 5-ar is important for the metabolism of quite some goodies in the brain, I guess some people are sensitive some are not. When you don't experience the sides it's easy to discount everybody else's experience as placebo. I don't see whole boards being setup for people getting low libido from banana's, you connect the dots and don't go ape**** on the people giving you their honest experience.
