after finasteride, took minoxidil to have success?

anyone here experience some really good regrowth after being on finasteride for awhile with little results, added minoxidil, then had really good results because of the minoxidil?

Hi. I havent personally had results (I dont use min) but I can tell you that adding minoxidil would certainely increase the chances of regrowth, because finasteride and Min act in synergy with each other (i.e. they complement each other).

I did the opposite back in the mid-90s. I was on 2% minoxidil when it was the only thing you could get (and required prescription). When it was found finasteride helped in male pattern baldness, I went on Proscar. The combination supercharged my results (although I subsequently got lazy and quit both, and now my male pattern baldness has progressed as if I'd never been on anything).

The two work very well together for some people. Depending on the extent of your loss, you might not want to dick around too much before firing both barrels. See your doctor first.

by dick around too much, do you mean not take all the meds right away, as to have something left in the arsenal for later use should you need it?

in other words.. finasteride and nizoral for now (since i just noticed thinning about 1 1/2 years ago), and hold off on the minoxidil til i absolutely think it's needed?

he's saying utilize everything in the hair regrowth department right from the start depending on the extent of hairloss. This I agree with. finasteride is working for me by itself, but I have a good bit to recover on the crown, I think I needed the minoxidil all along.

Yeah, I think it's really subjective. If you are quite unhappy with your hair, go in with gun's blazin'. That's what i'm doing. I can't afford to NOT have regrowth with just finasteride alone.

Yes

I took propecia for 6 months and saw a little bit of sprouting along the hairline. About 2 1/2 months ago I started rogaine and now there are a really good number of hairs coming in around the hairline. My only answer for this is that the rogaine is helping out. Or perhaps it is both of them working together ang giving max results...i still have quite a ways to go but things are looking up.
