Hey guys!

I'm currently using 1 mg of finasteride and nizoral every third day. I thought this would be enough to at least keep my hair, like halting it, but now i'm not to sure.

I take pictures of my hair every week, to see if there is any progress, regrewoth, etc. but it only seems to have gotten worse and now i'm fearing that finasteride isnt working for me...

I know i should wait 12 months to see if it works or not, but i'v actually lost more hair while on finasteride, i know its finasteride that isnt making me lose my hair but right now it donst seem to be helping either. My hair is thinner than before, every time I lose a hair i examine it, and now it seems to be lighter and thinner than before. And i'm losing it all the time, even when I study I see hairs in my book, instead of reading I just spend time looking at my hair like Gollum looks at his ring.

so im wondering wheter i should wait for month 12 to start minoxidil, or just do it right now? what do you guys think?

Just to clarify - are you taking 1mg finasteride every third day?

If so, then "technically" that should be close to the least amt one could take and expect to see positive results.

I was going that route also for about 8 months - and saw zero positive results. Have since cranked up the finasteride to 1mg daily. Still hoping for positve results - but it's not looking good.

As far as the minoxidil - it's a crap shoot. It works wonders for some in combo w/ finasteride - but others wish they'd never even tried it. The only way you'll know is to give it a shot.

hey man =)

no im not taking 1mg finasteride every third day, nizoral every third day, well we dont have nizoral here in norway but we have fungoral, i think its the same thing, just another name.

I take 1mg every day with no luck so far, oh i should menition that i droppe my doesage to 0,5mg 3months ago, but then my hairloss got worse so i tok it back up 1mg, thats 1 month ago, so its sort of like this:

1mg finasteride for 5 months
0,5mg for 2 months
1mg for 1 month

i jumped to 0,5 mg because i feared gyno, but i jumped back to 1mg because i started to lose while on 0,5mg

OK - thanks for the clarification. The first time I was on finasteride - it took me 8 - 9 months to realize any real regrowth and it was great. But in addition to my bald spot filling in I also grew boobs - which is why I quit finasteride.

So - you have a ways to go yet. Don't expect to see any postive finasteride results for minimally 6 months. Some guys even take 1 - 2 years before appreciable results are evident.

When I went back on finasteride it was minimal dosages - which were useless. So I consider myself at the 5 month mark too at 1mg daily. No regrowth yet in my case - but I remain optimistic.

Good luck.

unfortunately, "no".

This time around though, I'm taking some anti-estogen supplements along w/ the finasteride. So far - I haven't gotten any bustier :)

Hair Tomorrow,
Was it 1mg or 5 mg of finasteride that were taking that caused you to have gyno? When did you notice you had man boobs? And what was your body type like?

From what I have been reading all over the internet, gyno is a side effect, but for a majority of men it's rare if only taking finasteride. Were you taking other dht blockers?

I was doing 1.25 mg finasteride, 4 out of every 5 days. The boobs thing happened so gradually I didn't even notice until one day I saw a picture of myself at the pool - and lo and behold I had a perky set all of a sudden - I'd say around 8 - 9 months after beginning treatment. I quit finasteride right then and there.

At the time I was lean and in good shape from regular workouts and excersize.

At the time I was on finasteride, nano, minoxidil 5%, had already been on and dropped prox-n, and varied and sundry vitamins - but no other DHT blockers. I fall into that wonderful 2% of the those that experience those kinds of sides.

Just because you're taking finasteride doesn't necessarilly mean you'll grow breasts or develop gyno. But in my case anyways - breast enlargement was an unfortunate side.

give finasteride a fair shot.

a few weeks to a month after starting you may experience burning & sensitivity around the nipple area. you're still safe for a little while as this negative side effect may very well subside.

If it persists for - oh, I don't know, 2 months - then quit before any permanent damage is done.

I have to admit that I didn't even consider I had gyno (I am still not sure if I do, but I think I have a very mild case) until I read about possible side effects after adding revivogen to my Propecia and minoxidil meds. I took Revivo for 3 weeks but quit just because I looked at myself and thought, "this looks like a little gyno." So I don't know if I had what I think is gyno all along (from the propecia) or I developed it over the 3 weeks of adding of revivo, or is my mind playing tricks. I bet it's from all 3.
