Hi i'm 20 and i've just really started to to notice some temple recession and thinning of my crown. My dad and grandad are pretty much completely bald and it started around my age, so i'm fairly confident it's male pattern baldness.
My hair is thick so the thinning on my crown (which is slight atm) isn't noticable unless i have very wet hair, but i've lost an inch on the sides of my hair line.
I'm currently training to be a doctor so i understand most of the drugs and the physiology so please don't hold back on any detail and in my panic i've spend a lot of time researching hair loss so i have a decent understanding of my options, however i have no experience.
I'm thinking of starting finasteride and nizoral for the crown and trying to establish some maintance, however i've read that it's not great on the temples and the only side effect i'm worried about is the shedding.
So basically i want to know what i can do for my temples? (i'm not a huge fan of going on minoxidil for the rest of my life) and i want to know how bad is the shedding really? (from the posts some people put up it seems that they lose all their hair, but i seriously doubt it) and do you think i've got the treatment right? (or will it just protect the crown and i'll still end up losing the front?)
