advice for someone just starting finasteride

ive ordered a months worth of finpecia from united pharmacies.

ive been using rogaine for 5-6 months now and havent seen much to get excited about. im 18 and the hairline is looking pretty bad already.

so ive decided to try finasteride, i know ill have to eventually if i want to keep my hair so why wait?

anyway im still worried about all the possible side effects and everyting, im just wondering if anyone can give me some advice, like what should i look out for in the first few weeks in terms of side effects, do they usually go away?

also should i start on half or quater of a 1mg tablet, i know some people do this to lower side effects.

just any advice anyone can offer would be really appreciated.

I've noticed a lot of guys (myself included) get a bit of an ache in the ol' balls a few days after starting. This seems to last 3-14 days from what I've read.

so if you get that, don't panic, it's only temporary.

I would start on 1mg, and only lower if you get any other persistant side-effects. Try not to think about side-effects, the mind is a powerful thing!

lowering the dose would hardly make a difference in terms of possible side effects. the dht levels on for instance 0,5mg and 1mg of finasteride is very similar. if you get side effects at 1mg, you'll almost surely get them at 0,2mg as well...

If you get side effects DO try lowering the dose. I know it worked for me... What have you got to loose? Even if guys say it is all in your head, who cares as long as it works for you!

Update, just to be clear, I did receive my order from United pharmacies back in early November, about 3 weeks after I placed the order. I had posted a response back then on this forum.

I ordered Avodart from United Pharmacies about 3 weeks ago. They deducted the amount from my checking account, but I never got an order number or a confirmation email. I printed out the original order on the screen. I never got my package, and my emails and telephone messages to United Pharmacies all went unanswered. I know the blogs all say that this outfit is trustworthy, and if I finally get my package, or a refund I'll post it on this website, but, in my view, you'd be better off just getting a scrip from an MD. There's risk of counterfeit drugs from online pharmacies also.

That's not what other people have reported, do your research. And what you say doesn't make sense; at the very least the side-effects will be less pronounced - perhaps giving the impression of not existing. Also the "dht levels" isn't necessarily responsible for the side effects, it could be the body's reaction to the amount of finasteride in your system? Basically, where did you get this idea from? I haven't heard it anywhere else.

The only way to figure it out is to try Propecia for some months..do you get sides that last for months,quit..in 1 000 000 people 20 000 get sides(2%)..most of them get sides they can live with

United Pharmacies Update, received the package, finally.
Hello, I posted 11/4 about not receiving my Avodart order from United Pharmacies. The order did finally come through, after three weeks. It may take more time to the US. They never returned any of my messages so I thought I should alert everyone about that. Anyway, I'm supposed to pick up the package at the post office tomorrow. It seems they sent me my order after all.
