Only posted here a few times but read quite often and have a question about how ive heard people say that sometimes peoples hair line just receed back to a adult hair line, im 20 and noticed my right temple receeding back some and got on a generic minoxidil and thats all i been useing and noticed regrowth and now nothing has changed for 3 months.

Is adult hair line something that actually happens or was it just kind of made up to help people cope with receeding hair line for the time being.. just want to know if i should take more action then just minoxidil, and a side question, can you become immune to minoxidil or just use it forever? and get same results..?

thanks

Yes, sometimes it does actually happen. Some people receed a bit and that is all they ever lose. Sometimes it happens early in life and then stops, and sometimes it doesn't stop. About the only way for you to guess at what is going to happen is to look at your family history. It's too hard for us to give you sound advice on whether it's going to progress further or not. As for your other questions I think you should do more research into the treatments, and read the trial results and then make your own informed decission. There is a lot of good info on this site.

hairline

I have wondered about that too, even for diffuse thinning. I became a Norwood 1.5 about 5-6 years ago (at the age of 26ish), I am now 33 and a good responder to minoxidil. But letting it grow out, even here in the first few months and a few times I did before I was back on minoxidil, I noticed I was pretty much the same as ever.

I am sure that perhaps in advanced age I would go the full horseshoe route, but it looks like it slowed down or stopped thinning since the initial genetic trigger.

I'm enjoying watching it fill in with minoxidil in the top/back.

My hair has receded- I would say 1/2 inch on my hairline, and close to an inch on the temples- it started at the age of 26 and has stopped at the age of 28. I'm 29 this week, and have not noticed any significant thinning or recession for many many months now, at least 3/4 year. So, for almost 3 years, my recession has been very generous- nothing worth worrying about when considering my age.

So this is quite possibly my adult hairline- I can conceal it 100% and do not have any visible signs of losing my hair- except in the direct middle of my forehead, where it is slighltly thinner than the rest- I have always been like this, with the little 'point' or widow's peak

I'm not naieve either- I still think I'll lose it as I age- then I'll jump on some medication once I see it going again.

Look at Pete Rose- great hair for a long time- now he's losing it
Look at Shawn Michaels/WWE- he's receding, but slowly
Look at Conan O'brien- receding, but again, slowly

so we can have adult hairlines, but I think those are the hairlines that tend to deteriorate very slowly over a long period of time

hopefully, that's what I have at worst !!!

my dad and grandfather are bald, so there's two strikes against me
But, my Mom's side has zero history of hairloss- so maybe I'll dodge the bullet!!

here's hoping!!

i just think adult hairlines turn into male pattern baldness at a very slow rate
