Hello this is a simple serious question here, was it alright that I left my finasteride pills in bathroom because I forgot to keep them away from bathroom and took a shower anyway for like 20 mins? I've read somewhere that its not advised to put the finasteride pills in bathroom. What if I did, would something bad happen to the pills? Will the pills lose their effectiveness? I'd appreciate it to get helpful and honest answers, thanks

When has it been advised to not store Finasteride in a home bathroom? I've never read anything about that before.

What is advised, like any medication, is to keep them away from excessive light. I take Dutasteride and keep them stored in my bathroom. I've never had any issues doing that, and the effectiveness still works perfectly. Keep the Finasteride tablets stored under the bathroom sink safe from light, that's how I store my Dutasteride capsules.

You shouldn't store them in the bathroom where people take a hot shower, the moisture can make it break down. If it only happened once you should be OK but doing it every day is not a good idea.

Store medicines safely

Take care of your medicine.

  • Know that heat, air, light, and moisture may damage your medicine.
  • Store your medicines in a cool, dry place. For example, store it in your dresser drawer or a kitchen cabinet away from the stove, sink, and any hot appliances. You can also store medicine in a storage box, on a shelf, in a closet.
  • If you are like most people, you probably store your medicine in a bathroom cabinet. But the heat and moisture from your shower, bath, and sink may damage your medicine. Your medicines can become less potent, or they may go bad before the expiration date.
  • Pills and capsules are easily damaged by heat and moisture. Aspirin pills break down into vinegar and salicylic acid. This irritates the stomach.
  • Always keep medicine in its original container.
