Yes, if you could, here are a few rich questions I would love to hear him address:

1) The infamous Minoxidil tolerance issue: If one begins a minoxidil regime and responds favorably to it, this would imply that their hair is RE-growing. My question is, how long does the REgrowth effect of Minoxidil continue to work before it putts out? A year, two.. or more? Is it the case that as long as you use minoxidil your hair will continue to improve indefinetly, or is there a time frame when minoxidil stops stimulating and you just need to keep using it for maintenance alone no matter how frequently you use it?

2) Anti-DHT topicals... which is better, bottom line. Xandrox, or spironolactone 1x a day? (I say 1x a day of spironolactone because 2x a day is impossible due to the stink!)

3) To what effect does he think the chemical in Nizoral (Ketoanalcone or whatever it is called) really have an effect on hair? Personally, I just can't imagine that ANY chemical can be applied to the scalp every 2-3 days and be able to claim any anti-DHT effect? Is this just anecdotal or real? Nizoral is expensive, and if taking it 2-3 times a week is not enough to really create a significant difference than I would really like to stop spending money on it!

Thanks for the post... hope you remember these!!!

Enjoy your visit, please debrief us!!!!

Waste of money. He knows little or nothing more than what information is available on the internet, on sites such as this. he is not a guru or a world expert. It's your doe tho... :)

i had my meeting with dr. lee today...heres some answers he gave me to some questions....
gardener: your minoxidil tolerance question...
dr. lee stated within the first 1-3 years is when the miniturized hairs can grow back to the same texture, thickness etc..
after that period is when your hair will stay at the condition it is...minoxidil will not grow any follicles that were never there to begin with, just the ones that are minuturizing...its trying to reverse the process...

so you will need to stay on it to keep the reversed miniturized hair...so in essence minoxidil will always work....its just very apparent in the early stages of administration in what you notice...

best dht topical: spironolactone...
he said its better than alzeic acid by far...but he cant mix spironolactone and minoxidil in the same compound together in a bottle..so to take minoxidil and then apply the spironolactone cream after is best.....(the cream is better than the lotion he stated)

nizoral.....he said its "ok" at best.... ...has miniscule benefits to the scalp...
not a maker or breaker of a regime to say the least...if you see some benefits than keep using it...wont hurt...(he has a regrowth shampoo that contains keto and salylic acid...and he did not push it on me to buy... i like his honesty :p

jack the lad....jblig

he definately is excited about hair cloning.....and stated that this is the future for hairloss...he thinks in about 2 years or so it will be available here...he also haid that companies like bosley are trying so hard to come up with it first...becuase this procedure will put transplants out of business
he said bosley has hired this expert in this field to conduct rresearch here and get it approved etc....it seems likely that for now and ongoing medication drugs and proven treatments are the remedies ...

overall my feeling on dr. lee is great...he is an extremely honest and educated man in his field...very patient and helpful i learned a lot from him...
he is retiring from doing consultaions in his office however...today was his last official consultaion sessions ...i am glad i met him...very honest man...
i added xandrox 5% w alzaiec acid to my regime...

good luck to all...ciao

When i visted Dr.Lee a few months ago he told me that my hairline which still has tons of light blond hairs on it, could be thickened back to normal terminal hairs. I had told him that my hairlien began thinning five years (I was 18) and he said that it should not be problem (he sold me xandrox, and said that in 6 months if i am not happy with teh results I could add spironolactone). Now he is telling you that only hairs that were miniturized 1-3 years ago can be restored? What gives?
Thanks, Mike

i'm very skeptical that bosley will have some form of hair cloning within the next two years.

Bosley has had a shaky reputation at best in the past and I think they're working hard to turn this around. Dr. Washenik is heading this effort up and the couple interviews I read from him seem legit. Earlier this year, in one of them he said the timeframe was 5 years (so ~2008). Within 2 years, they should have something in clinical trials though.

I'm really optimistic on this stuff myself but 2 or 5 years might as well be 20 when the timeframe is subject to change.

btw - you guys should check out the list of physicians at Bosley.com - all but one is balding :hairy:

GREAT info, Vicci. Thank you.

I must admit that I am surprised that he would suggest spironolactone over Azelaic Acid because his Xandrox product is the only one that to my knowledge includes Azelaic Acid... I would think that if this were the case, he would push his own chem in lieu of spironolactone which is widely available.

Good luck to you Vicci, hope your struggle against male pattern baldness is successful.

i apologize i worded that wrong..what i meant was you will see the improvements fom minoxidil from the first 1-3 years of use of minoxidil. Not 1-3 years of balding

i'll be honest, i haven't seen any regrowth in minoxidil use other than slowing down the hairloss process or basically maintaining it somewhat.. and i've been on it close to 3 years now. i still have enough hair to conceal the thinning though so i'm somewhat happy. i just miss combing my hair whichever way i want

I believe Dr. Proctor has a study on his website that agrees that spironolactone is the deal on topical preps.

Bruce, Proctors products have spironolactone in them so naturaly he is going to push that topical. Lee is contradicting himself stating that Azleic acid 100% effective at neutralizing DHT at the follicle, who knows what percentage spironolactone does? I know it smells like sh*t though and that makes it not an option for allot of guys.

Everybody is so excited for hair cloning to come out, well let me tell you ths when it does come out it will be so damn expensive that only the rich guys will be able to afford it leaving the other 90% to just dream- get real guys we need a better option than hair cloning.

will hc be THAT expensive? maybe. i believe FUE and FIT procedures are so damn expensive because they take so much work and time. on the other hand, in hc, if the follicles are ready to go, the surgeon just needs to have the skill to properly implant the follicles. although, who knows the cost of the biopsy and culturing etc..
