a simple addition

Here is my dilemma: i have been on propecia for almost five months now. I have had pretty good results, hair has definitely thickened up. but strangely enough, my hairline (especially temples) just seem to be thin like RIGHT AT THE HAIRLINE, and so this can look funny when i style it spiked up.
i know all the rules about waiting a year for results and such, and i was kinda hoping i could do what HairLossTalk.com is doing and wait to use minoxidil products until i really needed it, sort of as a back up plan. Plus i always thought that minoxidil was really hard to fit into my daily schedule. But i was also thinking, it would be pretty easy to just add 1X minoxidil application daily, in the morning, just after i get out of the shower. I remember reading that after a shower your minoxidil can get into your scalp better, and plus, it would be basically just like waiting for my wet hair to dry anyway in the morning, so it wouldn't be a huge impingement on my daily life. I just feel like i need just a little bit more regrowth up front there to be 100 percent confident, and a lot less hair loss worry during the day. what do you guys think? should i wait and see if propecia keeps thickening my hair for the entire year, or should I try this seemingly simple addtion to my regimen of 1x minoxidil in the morning?

Of course it's up to you when you want to add minoxidil. If it was me I would wait and see how finasteride will do after a year. If you feel you have stabilised then you could add min for some extra growth.

I would also apply min at night. That way you don't need to worry about having a greasy looking hair for most of the morning.

That's my take on it anyway.....

Yea Trent, as long as it is, I would wait the full year. You're not even at halfway point and the Propecia site says that 6 months is when you can even begin to expect to see regrowth. Wait it out buddy! If you get decent regrowth in a year and can hold it, you'll be stoked you did if you have to add minoxidil down the road because the Propecia is slowing down.

What is this 'greasy look' that people always talk about? Why is minoxidil so 'inconvenient'?

It takes me about 2 minutes max to apply, and leaves no greasy look at all. I put it on my SCALP, not my hair.

I don't get it.

i know darkly, i guess i know in my heart that is what i want to do. I just want this to speed up!! I'm getting regrowth, buy my damn hairline still isn't where i want it to be, its kinda like yours is in the front and middle, except all across my hairline, with toppik its pretty unnoticeable i'm just tired of being self conscious about it.

the good news, for about a week now, i haven't noticed a single hair in the shower, and maybe only one on my papers whilst i'm studying. and i comb my hair with a fine tooth comb everyday (slick it back for about two minutes), and i rarely ever see a hair on it. so i guess i'm slowing hair loss pretty well. erg... i wish I knew what my hair woudl look like in six more months so i know if i need to start minoxidil now.

I know how you feel. Most vets here will tell you to wait a full year before adding anything but I say f*** it, just add the minoxidil twice daily and get your life back.

Don't use it on a wet head, though. It can cause chest pain and heart palpitations.
