A Good Regimen?

I may have told you in my 'story' in the 'Tell Your Story' section. But I'll go over it again. I'm near enough 100% sure that I'm balding. My hair falls out with a simple glide through my hair, and when I wake up I find over 10-20 hairs on my pillow. My Grandad was a Norwood 7 around 30 ! and so was my uncle. My Dad was very simlar but I haven't seen him for a while and I'd say he is a Norwood 5. This obviously means my hair loss is agressive. Now I want to know if this is a good regimen for a 17.

My Current Regimen;

- 2 450mg Saw Palmetto capsules twice a day. *
- 1.0 or a little less of Kirkland Signature 5% Topical Minoxidil applied twice a day.
- Nizoral Shampoo 2% around 2 or 3 times a week.
- Emu Oil which I massage to my whole scalp around 2 or 3 times a week.

I'm Considering adding;

- Green Tea extract
- Biotin
- Beta-sitosterol
- Omega 3

I also have a high protein diet. I have protein in all my meals a day. Which includes Almonds, Tuna, Eggs, Pork, Beef, Bacon, Pumpkin Seeds. Can't remember the exact name of the shampoo but I use a Jojoba Shampoo without any of the sulfate- lauryl (spelt wrong I think)

Is this a good regimen? Thanks.

* Finasteride is not included because I'm under age and am unable to buy it.

Here is a pic, which shows I'm thinning...

I wouldn't bother adding omega 3 and biotin for hair loss. I take multivitamin (it contains biotin) and omega 3 supplements everyday (for general health) and my hair loss has not stopped. I also eat healthily and do regular exercise. In my case good health has had no noticeable effect on my hair loss.

Do you know for a fact that you're thinning? Compare pics... post some (and block out your face if privacy is an issue)

I think you're already doing all you can. Obviously finasteride is by far the best treatment but 17 is too young for that. Unless you really have money to burn then I'd forget about adding any more, health supplements really have nothing to do with hairloss.

Since you cant use finasteride for now I would have a good shampoo- topicals regimen for now...

Id recomend using a Piroctone Olamine shampoo on your non Nizoral days.

You can also buy some Tee Tree oil and add/mix some in the PO shampoo getting the added benefits of the oil while you shampoo.

*Use the search function to look up the Piroctone Olamine shampoo studies. Its both antiandrogenic/antinflamatory and a growth stimulant. TTO has antiandrogenic/antinflamatory properties as well.

*Look for the posts on the (Scotish) e.oils study. plenty of info posted on the antiandrogenic-antiflamtory properties of different e.oils. Since you are already using emu oil, you could add a few more essential oils to a mix with an inexpensive carrier oil like grape seed or olive oil and use it whenever possible.
This has worked for me. hope this helps.

Is the crown the worst place to lose it? I mean, if you start losing it from the crown does that definently mean that you have male pattern baldness?

Yeah I would say so especially at a young age. But finasteride is known for working best on the crown.
