A few more things before I take the plunge...

Ok, I have posted before about considering going on Propecia, just a few more things....

I have some questions that, while they may seem silly and such, should be answered. I am considering going on a drug possibly for a very long time and I want to really consider all options before I go there....

1.) My hairstylist (and myself) started noticing my hair thinning only at the last haircut. A few months ago i became a vegetarian and started exercising daily. can a sudden change in diet or exercise affect hairloss in anyway? It may seem silly, but I do not want to go on a drug if the causes are different.

2.) Should I just see my general physician, or a specialist in the field?
If so, what is a specialist in hairloss fall under? Dermitologist???

Thanks to everyone for their unput!

yea dude of course diet has effect on your hair, im not sure if it could cause excessive balding, but definately a thinning in your hair if you are not eating right and getting the right nutrients, check to see if there is a family history of balding and when they started to lose their hair.. i would consult with a doctor dermatologist first before going on propecia dude.

Dude I would get on the medication NOW.

As said many times before, the longer you wait and make excuses as to why your hair is thinning (ie.- diet), then the more hair you lose, and the less hair you will re-grow. You are losing your hair because of male pattern baldness (This is 99.9% likely the cause). Family history does NOT matter, and all other 'excuses' do NOT matter because you either dodge the bullet or you don't. If your crown ins thinning, then get on Propecia now. You'll be glad you did 6 months from now. Or if you wait, then 6 months from now it could very well be twice as worse.

Period.

Crown, top scalp, hairline, temples- it's all the same. male pattern baldness starts in any sort of pattern. Good stuff, get your prescription.

GhostInTheShell-- don't buy into the hype and DON'T expect to get side effects until you actually get them. You may get mild side effects, but more likely you will not.

If you do experience side effects, they are generally mild and will subside with continued use of the drug. If they did not subside for any reason, you could discontinue the drug and you would be fine.

Don't try and cross that bridge before you come to it, you'll only drive yourself crazy.

Good luck.
