Hi guys.

I started Proscar 1.25mg every day in 2004 at 26 years old as I was a NW2. I noticed my hairline started to receed around 17 years old. Today I am 32 years old and I would say I am quite happy with the result with Proscar, no side effects and I always thought I would be bald before 30 (as my father) but today at 33 years old I would say I am a happy NW2.5 with naturally mid curly hairs that is perfect to hide a bit the temples.

Since I was only using Proscar, I recently understood I could mix with other products, the BIG 3... I don’t know why but at the time I started in 2004 I read once that I should not mix with different treatment and it’s why I never considered other products, but I do regret it now...and I’m pretty sure I would still be a NW2 if I had more infos before.

After documenting myself I bought some product and I’m about to start a new routine, I just wanted to share it with you guys to see what you think about it and if I don’t do any mistakes.

The products I bought :

- Rogaine Foam 5%
- Tricomin Follicle Therapy Spray
- Richer and Fuller Spironolactone 5% cream
- Nizoral 2% Shampoo
- Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo from Avalon

So here is my thought about my new routine :

- 8 AM After morning shower : Rogaine and spironolactone Cream (both on the crown and temple)
- Noon time @ work : Tricomin Spray
- 11 PM : Rogaine and spironolactone Cream again + Proscar 1.25MG

Shampoo EOD : First wash with Biotin / Second wash with Nizoral
Conditionner EOD : Biotin or 3Min Aussie Miracle

Let me know what you guys think, thanks

I think you have made good choice with those products. May be spironolactone is not necessary since you take finasteride. I don't know too much about tricomin.
Just to warn you about the initial shed you will probably have with rogaine foam.

Thanks, yes I know that Rogaine is a pain to use, if it's too much bad effect I will take it off of the routine and try to use something else instead.

I might as well consider the NIOXIN intensive therapy recharging complex...

Hi Sparo, may I ask where exactly did you buy the Richer and Fuller Spironolactone 5% cream? I've heard of the stuff before, just curious how it compares to other brands, considering giving it a shot if I can get it.

Hi there, I bought it online in a specialized shop for hair product based in Hong Kong. I started 2 days ago, it smells mint, and no trouble to use it, just the fact that is a cream make your hair a little bit greasy. Let's say after shampoo, when I put the Rogaine and the spironolactone cream, and let it dry, my hair still look a bit greasy like they need to be washed...

Thanks for the reply Sparo.
How does the Richer and Fuller Spirolactone cream look like? Could you show me a picture so I could use to find it online? Or maybe you could show us the link where you purchased from. I would appreciate it if you could and would like to give it a try.

Hi Guys.

A little update after more than 5 months and this new routine.

First of all I'd like to say that I am totally satisfy with the results. I clearly have more hair today, both on the front parts and the crown. Even some of my friends have noticed a change!

I adjusted my routine to what I felt better, and for example took out the spironolactone cream, I did not felt this was changing anything on my hair and honetly it's a nightmare to use.

My routine now is as follow :

Every day :
Rogaine Foam in the morning
Rogaine Oil in the evening + Proscar

Every other day :
First Shampoo : Either Avalon organic Biotin or Nioxin 3
Second Shampoo : Nizoral 2% for 5 min

I'd like to show you a picture the first day I started the treatment :

And a picture after 5 months

I will update more from time to time. Basically I have an important regrowth on the right frontal part (the part I lost the most) and the crown that was starting to be thiner is very thick now and you cannot see any thin area. Also most of the hair on the hairline use to be very thin and with no shape, they are very thick now and I can do whatever I want with them. So many people tell me I have great hairs. I am really happy with the result so far.

Cheers!

That's amazing! You have been on finasteride 7 years and lost only 0.5 Norwood. Great job man finasteride did great job to you!
When you added another things your hair looks much better. This is really very good result.
I just added finasteride to my regimen- hope that will keep my Norwood 2.5 for long time as you did:)
My worst decision was using minoxidil without finasteride. Was sheeding a lot and losing temples:(.

Well, since I discovered this forum, I start to get a strange feeling about Finasteride.

Honestly it worked very well for me and I cannot say I have side effect, but reading all problem it might cause, I am thinking to stop it...I don't really want to take the risk to alter my libido vs having great hair.

I don't know I have to say I am lost with the Finasteride thing. I spent 2h yesterday to read all thread about fina, and I slept very bad then. I did not realize it has become so controversial so I am considering stopping and see what will happen then to my hair.

Maybe I can find something else to maintain my current hair. Worst case scenario if I start to loose again I would do a FUE....

Any thought about that?

Yes I have a thought on this - DON'T STOP!

You have been doing great, everything works like it is supposed to and you will ruin your great results in a few months' time.

What's the point? you have been on finasteride for 7 yrs. Why you think anything will happen now? Try getting it out of your mind and stop reading that stuff. There is a very small minority of people getting bad sides - and you are not one of them! For them it is real and it is scary I know. But you've made the decision years ago and lived happily for 7 yrs I assume...

Please think this through carefully. :hump:

WillNotLetItHappen wrote very good. You shouldn't give up finasteride, because it works for you very well and you haven't had any sides.
I have just added 0.5 mg of proscar. Do you think guys that 0.5 is enough and will be working propley?

Don't quit finasteride if it's working fine and not giving you sides, you will likely lose a lot of hair!

Also your idea to get a FUE instead of finasteride if you lose hair... that won't work. You cannot get a hair transplant without being on finasteride.

SPARO- Can I ask, why you use Rogaien liquid over foam at night?

Well, the liquid makes my hair look a bit oily and flat (I have curly hair) as oppose to the foam that act on my hair like a gel. So I mix both of them depending on what time of the day. If I go to work i like to use the foam but I still think the liquid works better than the foam. Maybe some people would feel different but I guess it's also due to what type of hair you have.

I have to say i have a side effect to Rogaine though... I start to have dark/black eyes since 2 months, which I did not have before.

I read a lot about dark eyes and I use a K vitamin cream to counter the effect of Rogaine. I use the one from Peter Thomas Rot. It's working quite well, I have less dark eyes after 2 weeks.

Oh and by the way, I will continue Fina... :)

My thoughts are most of the negative stuff you hear about finasteride is BS anyway. So many people take finasteride without any long term side effects.

My opinion is right now without finasteride your probably wasting your time and money. Lots of things have a little science and might help a little, but finasteride is the main thing making the major difference. Unless you get crazy and use dutasteride or RU or something you need propecia or just shave it and be done with it.
So I would say keep finasteride unless you need to stop it and if you want the hassle of a bigger more expensive routine those other things certainly will not hurt, but I doubt you will see major differences adding them your call on that.
Finasteride is a drug we all know there is always a chance of major problems. That being said finasteride is about as safe as drugs generally will get. Also a lot of guys have been on finasteride for 15+ years at this point so if some long term problem comes up lots of people will be there long before you and you could stop then if you had too.
