Hello friends
Last week I did a fue hair transplant at a clinic in Europe.(3000 grafts)
So far I has been suffering from tremendous pain in the donor area. (pain intensity 9-10)
The pain worsens during the nights so I can not sleep at all. When I put my head on the pillow, I immediately begin to feel unbearable pain like needles all over the donor area and then feel like my whole head is swollen like a balloon.
The clinic recommended painkillers such as: Nurofen, paracetamol .....
Yesterday I started to take stronger painkillers (Tramadox 24) and still did not feel any improvement.
Is this a normal side effect? I'm really worried that this is an unusual pain. Thanks

I wouldn't say this to be normal. 3000 grafts isn't even that many really - probably done in one sitting.

I would contact your Dr if you're still experiencing this much pain and see what they suggest. In the meantime, try and rest as much as possible. Try and stay propped up when you're resting/sleeping, using additional pillows if need be. Hopefully the pain will slowly subside. Try not to worry.

You want to sleep in a sitting position if you can, like in a recliner. This prevents swelling. You want your head positioned above your heart.

It might be from the swelling. Your swelling should reduce over the next 7 days or so.

I've read about this, it's not as rare as most people think. They hear FUE and assume it's a mostly painless fast recovery but that's just one possible outcome, the other is what OP is going through. Lots of pain up to 10-14 days post op then it fades. It goes away though (unless the Doctor fucked you up then it might take awhile longer, hopefully you went to a great Doctor and not some random FUE hair mill).
