I've been on finasteride for 6 months. From months 2-5 I barely shed at all (like 5-15 hairs in the shower). However starting at month 5 I started shedding again (like 25-35 hairs in the shower) and it's getting me worried. Do you guys think it's time for me to add minoxidil or should I wait it out?

alot of members here say that propecia is a long lasting shed and i believe it. But your hair doesnt seem worst man, your hairloss doesnt seem aggrssive either so i wouldnt worry if i were you. Chances are you will go through sheds here and there but overall propecia should keep your hair for a really long time considering you caught it at such an early stage

shedding is normal. Shedding does not mean you are losing hair. Shedding is a normal part of the life cycle of hair, sometimes the life cycles synchronize so you might shed a lot at once in time. If you look at my results thread in my signature. You can see my hair looked great at 5 months, then at 7 looked noticeably worse, then got back to looking very good at a year

edit: just looked at your pics for the first time. I would absolutely not start minoxidil. You do not need regrowth. Honestly can't even tell if you even have male pattern baldness. Stop being paranoid

Thank you for your replies guys! All of this shedding is just making my paranoid that things are taking a turn for the worse...

Hey Michael,

I added in minoxidil 1-2 times daily (on my temple points, forelock, and crown) and dermarolling with a 1.5 mm once a week (just on my temple points). It's super cheap to add in so I thought "why not."
