hey guys i know i posted the other day but sh*t when i saw my hair today i know somethings up. i know you shouldnt analyse day to day, but i was thinking about how it looked this time last month.

the thing that scares me is usually when its been 4+ weeks since my last haircut, after i wash my hair and it dries, there is no scalp visible. now there is :S im shitting a brick, bigtime...

haircut time tomorrow :( usually this wouldnt be so big a problem, but this time i think it might be the killer...

im a diffuse thinner by the way. my hair has thinned significantly over the last month in the centre a little behind the hairline. also, from the right temple all the way back, and at the crown, hair has thinned. so much loss in a month!! this must be a shed, right? usually it doesnt go quite this fast.

also, usually i dont notice hairs fall out when i run my hands through my hair. today, when i ran my hands through my hair 4 or 5 times after washing, about 10 hairs fell out. sound like a shed? i think this has been going on for about 2 weeks. how long does it take most people to finish a shed? and at the end of a shed, how long does it usually take them to regrow that hair they lost?

really hope this is a shed. the state my hair is in now, this being a shed or not is what will make or break my hair - look alright or look balding. fingers crossed.

anyone else experienced something similar around the 5-6 month mark on finasteride? sheds? or just ongoing loss? did anything regrow and when? help!!

also, i started nizoral about a month ago and have been on it about 3x a week. in the leaflet in the packet, ironically it says it can cause some hairloss. a nizoral shed? could this be what im going through?

any help would really be appreciated. i need it bigtime..

thanks

I have been on finasteride and nizoral for just over a month. Had my hair cut yesterday and it looked great. Better than I expected tbh. Don't worry. Your hair will look OK.

Me, too, uk...

Six months on propecia, several years on minoxidil and Tricomin, a couple of weeks on nizoral, and I'm getting so bald. Got really inconsistent doing my topicals for a couple of weeks while I was on the road this month. Also getting that fun surge now of oil and zits. Have one of my big performances of the year in a week and a half...How much hair by then? I'm totally thinned out all over the top and the left temple is gone for several inches back. My old hairline is still somewhat there, but extremely, extremely thin. Crown is very thin in a circle about four inches across.

All I can say is, when I was on saw palmetto, I had bad sheds but great flushes of growth. We may be in for one soon, uk. I do notice that the hairs I'm losing are all short. I still have long hairs on the top that are not shedding out. Not that they help much, but they're there. At the beginning of this really, really bad shed, I was losing healthy hairs. Now I'm just losing weaker, shorter hairs, some obviously dht strangled.

My crown is slightly better. I thought maybe that was the beginning of regrowth, but the big oil surge tells me I'm into a hyperandrogenicity phase, which probably means more shedding. Great. I'm living on Toppik and hope. The Toppik no longer makes me look as if I'm not losing, but it camouflages the extreme thinness on the top.

I'm 23, but I perform with people in their mid to late teens, mostly girls. How fun is it to be bald in that setting? Not. I'm the zitty, balding, older guy.

Hang in...I'm going to keep up the treatments until November, which will be a year on Propecia. I'm going to shave my head in mid June. Hoping I don't have a really noticeable "shadow" when I'm shaved, since I've been hiding my loss with Toppik the whole time, especially in the crown, and the cat will be out of the bag. I have really light skin and really dark hair. Sigh.

I don't think the finasteride your using is making the shed but maybe your one of those guys who doesn't respond to well to it .
