Hello,
I am so happy to find a place to tell my story since the people in my life do not believe me about my hair loss.
I am 46 years old and about 2 or 3 months ago, I noticed my scalp was hurting in different spots. It felt like I had my hair in tight pony tail and then when I took it out I would have pain in my scalp.
About a month later, I noticed more hair shedding when I washed my hair or ran my hand through my hair.
I have been under extreme stress since April when my husband lost his job, I lost my job, my grandmother died and I started back to college.
I know people say stress can't cause hair loss but I was hoping that was it.
My hair dresser said that my scalp was very tight and thought I should get a massage and said my hair didn't seem thinner to him but I am sure he was just being nice.
I had bloodwork done and it all came back great except for my testosterone which my gyn said was very low.
I have been on the pill for over 10 years and am wondering if this has something to do with my problem.
I tried nioxin, and vitamins but I am sitting here now with a pain in my scalp near my bangs and I am so afraid more hair will fall out in that area which is thinning by the minute.
Any thoughts on what could be the problem and what next steps I should take.
Thank you so much and my heart truly goes out to all of you with hair loss because I had no idea how devastating it could be.
Thanks,
averya.

Have you spoken with a dermatologist yet? That would be the best first step, especially if you are feeling pain in your scalp. That may sound obvious to you, but when I started losing my hair, I just went to a family doctor who proved to be quite useless for my situation. I would also make sure not to tie your hair back too tight for long periods of time. I've read that can cause a certain type of hair loss. I forgot what it was called. Anyways, good luck.
