I am since 31dec 2003 in minoxidil 5% 2x per day and since dec1 2004 in dutasteride 1 or 2 pills per day (and sometimes finasteride when I cannot afford the cost). During the last days I use another product called Fungoral (ketoconazole 2%) which is probably the same thing with Nizoral (because I cant find Nizoral here). I am 23 and the problem is in my temples. I had a rapid hairloss but when I started minoxidil I stopped losing hair completely (neither a single hair). I started dutasteride in order to empower my battle against hair loss and gain some hair in my temples but since now I havent see nothing!

I need your opinion:
Should I stop dutasteride and keep on minoxidil (which gave me stability) or keep on with the combination and see whats going to come out? I am 4 months now on dutasteride.

The only positive sign is some very small hair which dont grow up and just stay in a "weak fuzzy situation", in my temples (about 10-12 hairs) which have probably come out with the combo, but this doesnt say much to me (if it is to pay 100 dollars per month on dutasteride to gain 10-12 weak hairs...)

So, what do you advice me to do? Thanks!

Generally speaking, DHT inhibitors are more for maintenance of your existing hair than for regowth, although they very often do bring about some regrowth. The only study I'm aware of on dutasteride for hair loss lasted six months, so you should at least give it that long. You won't see maximum improvement until you've been on a DHT inhibiting treatment for 1-2 years.

Additionally, the temples are about the hardest area to regrow, according to most experts.

I'm on dutasteride right now for about a month and a half so far. I'm personally sticking it out for at least 6 months, assuming there aren't any frightening unforseen side-effects--and this is dutasteride, so I'm kind of expecting there very well could be. I'll keep my progress posted.

Ive been on dutasteride for around 6 month. My hairloss is finally slowing down which is what i wanted. I had a huge shed in jan, and im think im goning to have one again now. I lost like 10 hairs applying my minoxidil this morning. My advice stick to it and see how it goes
