30 Year Old - Maturing Hairline Or Something Worse?

Hello gents,

30 year old here, just checking that I'm not at immediate (or serious) risk of balding - although that may come off as being ridiculous.

Of course, I don't wish to be patronising or insulting when I post these pictures - I have no doubt that male pattern baldness, or the prospect thereof, is very difficult to live with. However, I have just decided to post these just in case there is an issue with my hair that I haven't picked up on. I have spoken to my family members and they say that my hair looks fine - I am due to see my doctor on Tuesday.

My own impression is that I have a juvenile hairline at best (unlikely), a mature hairline at worst, or maybe somewhere in between (the right side is the most concerning with regards to recession; the left side looks more juvenile to me). However, I could be wrong as well; maybe that mature hairline is a harbinger of something more serious - goodness knows I've been wrong before!

There don't seem to be any issues with my crown and my hairline seems to be intact, with a slight M curve. I do not have an itchy scalp and my hair is certainly not falling out in clumps, but I notice that I need to make a little more effort to style the right side of my hair than I used to.

RE family history, my maternal grandfather had a bald spot in his late 50's, two of my uncles had a full head of hair in their late 40's but the other had a receding hairline, and my father and paternal grandfather each have or had a full head of hair as at their late 60's (grandfather kept most of his hair until his passing at almost 90). So IMO I'm unlikely to suffer serious male pattern baldness, but there is a possibility that it will happen.

Anyway, any advice or response would be much appreciated. I do, of course, post in good faith and I wish every member of this forum who is suffering from hair loss all the best in their treatment.

I would say you definitely don't have a juvenile hairline. It's most likely a more matured hairline. Without any comparison photos it's hard to determine how far along you've progressed. If say wait to see what the doctor says but if you have family history it might not be a bad idea to start treatment to help it from moving back any further. Best of luck man.

Well, these are the best ones in my archives, since I haven't really kept an eye on this problem up until now:

Bear in mind that my hair was cut relatively recently (around 5 weeks ago), and a bit shorter than normal due to it being summer in this part of the world, so the level of hair growth may be different in these photos.

I don't see a massive difference between these photos and the current ones; maybe a slight recession between the 24 year old ones and the current ones, but it's hard to tell since my hair in many of these photos is fairly dry. There is a bit of an uneven hairline in the 27 year old ones.
