3.5 year non stop finasteride shed

So I got a haircut yesterday, fairly short, and I got home and looked in the mirror under the light, and almost had a heart attack. My hair on top has completely thinned out everywhere and for the first time in my life i cant hide it with some kind of styling .

When I started finasteride in Aug 2010 i was worried about a few hairs i found in the shower. I started taking 1.25mg of doctor prescribed finasteride and from then on have lost 75% of all my hair on top. It is really really bad.

For the first time in almost 4 years I'm deciding to quit this drug. It used to actually make me feel better knowing i was taking something to fight my hairloss, but now i guess its back to stressing out at every thought in my mind. I will be looking forward to the harder erections and better sperm though, which i havent had since i started taking it.

You can try RU might not work better than finasteride though alone, but maybe in combo would get good results. Oral spironolactone is also an option like 150mg daily. Wouldn't blame you if u don't want to try either option

It is highly unlikely that you are continuing to experience a shed, given the hair cycle lasts between 3 to 6 months. What I am guessing is happening is you have really aggressive hairloss and finasteride is not enough to stop it. In the studies, there was 10-15 percent of participants who continued to lose hair while on finasteride. I don't think finasteride will make you worse off.
