Hi, I am new to this forum.
I have been having thin hair for the longest time ( even early teens) but recently its been pretty bad and I noticed it when i recently got a haircut. I have a stressful job/etc and my hair may be thinning because of it but i feel like my hair has slowly been thinning throughout the years.

Especially under bright light or after I wet my hair, I can see through my hair and see my scalp with my hair natural without styling it. My crown or the vertex of my head isn't too bad compared to the front. I also don't have a receding hairline. But my hair has definitely been thinning if compared to say 2-3 years ago.

Should I start applying rogaine? I set an appointment to see my PCP, I'm not really sure what the best option for me is right now. I know there are very few treatments like Finasteride, Minoxidil, PRP injections and a hairtransplant. I know that if i start I cant quit and it doesn't slow the hair losing process. No one in my family is bald, they only thin hair. I feel like I won't go bald, but it's just really thin and I would like to not see my scalp.

I attached a few pictures if any of you have a similar pattern as me. You can see that it is worse with the light and without the light you don't notice it as much. Let me know what you think and thanks!

You should do something. You can always try Minoxidil alone for 2-3 months and evaluate if you want to add Finasteride to the mix then. Minoxidil will most likely cause a large initial shed, just be aware of that.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if there are any topical versions of finasteride that helps? I went and bought rogaine and started applying it, it's kind of difficult to apply to the scalp because my hair gets in the way. Im going to my PCP next week to see his thoughts. This sucks man..

It certainly does. Just keep in mind that it is more UNCOMMON than COMMON to not deal with baldness when you are male.

I recently switched to Rogaine foam as the liquid was killing me. The liquid is easier to get on the scalp however I just apply more and press it into the scalp to let it soak.

I know people have used topical Finasteride but I do not know where it is. I would take oral Finasteride if you are going to use it and just start with .25mg/day. Move up from there.
