So I've been losing hair for about 5 years now(receding hairline, hair thinning). Im 24 years old. The research that I've done leads me to believe that My window of any possible regrowth is coming to an end if I don't act now. I plan on using minoxidil, nizoral and s5 creme. My issue is that sometime in the next 6-12 months I will have to serve 1-2 years in jail where I won't be able to keep up with my hair treatment and my gains will be lost. Im trying to figure out if it would be better to start treating it for the next 6-12 months and then have to stop when I go to jail, or if I should just wait 2-3 more years to start treatment, at which point it will be about 8 years since I've started to lose hair and probably won't have much hope in getting it to grow back

I first noticed my hair loss when I was 21, and chances are it had been going on for at least a year or two before I noticed. This summer at age 27 I started treatment. That means best case scenario my hair loss was going on for 6 years before treatment and more likely closer to 8. In less than 4 months, my crown has thickened considerably to the point that I no longer have a bald spot - it's just thin back there now. So, there's a chance you could still achieve significant regrowth even if treatment is delayed another 2-3 years. That said, if your hair loss speeds up, your window for regrowth could close.

I don't think starting and stopping minoxidil is a good idea. However, S5 cream and nizoral would be smart to start because it could theoretically protect the follicles from further damage while you're not in prison (so you would delay hair loss for 6-12 months). If you can get a prescription for Propecia, that would be the best option.

If you don't start any treatments, your hair will for sure be thinner. If you do start treatments, you might get lucky and keep most of it. Don't bother with minoxidil like Badgenetics said. You should try derma rolling with S5 cream.
