Heys, My hair has been receeding for a little while now from the temples and i have that classic "M" look. I was just wondering if this could be MBP or is it just a mature hairline because it hasn't changed for over a year. My hair is really really thick so i could just cover it with a slighty longer caesar cut.

My dad has a full head of hair in his 50s with a slight recession and my uncles (moms side) are almost bald in their 30-40s. Uncles have extreme recession, but my dads completely fine.

I have attached a few pics below let me know what you guys think. Should I leave it alone or seek options? 20150820_013319-1.jpg20150820_013557-1-1.jpg20150820_013817-1-1.jpg20150820_015145-1-1.jpg20150820_015153-1-1.jpg20150820_015153-1-1.jpg

your hair is most likely going to be more similar and hereditary towards your uncles on your mothers side. Not always but more likely.

You are in the same boat as me when I was 23 - I'm now 32. I took no action when I started to recede, assuming that it was a mature hairline. This, more or less, stayed where it was for 5ish years and then started to slowly thin. It was then that I jumped on the meds.

If I was you, I would look into your options asap, which would consist largely of finasteride and minoxidil. If you don't, there is a very strong chance that your hair will worsen over time.

I was lucky enough to make an almost full recovery, including temples filling in but it is much easier to maintain then to regrow.

A simple way to think about whether to start medication (after you have established the risk of sides, from official studies) is to ask yourself how you would feel if your hair became worse in 2, 5 or 10 years. Imagine you receded further at 25, or you developed a NW5 at 30, would you be upset? If you answer yes, it would be prudent to start medication now, instead of waiting until it becomes a real issue.

No problem. My current regime is 1.25mg of generic finasteride ED (i cut this into quarters) and minoxidil twice daily (generic foam in the morn, Lipogaine liquid in the eve). I also use Nizoral twice a week. I have been on this regime for nearly 2 years. This is considered the 'Big 3' in terms of fighting male pattern baldness.

I'm considering adding dutasteride once a week also.

If I was you, I would consider going on the big 3.

I always had very thick curly hair. At 23 it started to thin but only mildly and at the hairline, mainly at the temples. I ignored it for the most part. I do remember mentioning it to my doctor when I visited for another reason and he dismissed the idea of hairloss completely without even looking at my hair. It wasn't until close to a decade later that the thinning became visibly apparent and that's when I decided to take action.

The pics attached show before and after. I don't have any base line pics, so the pics are of me at 30, with me attempting to hide my thinning hair. I use to use a mixture of dry shampoo and hold spray to make it look thicker. The after pics of me at 32 (current age) shows that my hair has made close to a full recovery. I do still have a few thinner hair right at the centre of my hairline (one pic shows that) but I hope to recover these also.
